Hi, I play with a PS85, and use Prince Synthetic Gut Duraflex 16. I break these string in about a week, and it would be nice if I could get something more durable, with slightly better playability/spin, and it woudl be nice if they cost around $10. Any recommendations?

In order to stay with synthetic gut, I'd try out Prince's Topspin 15L, the one with Duraflex added in. It should fit your needs pretty well.

Dunlop Max Comfort 16/17. Nice soft feel like Wilson NXT but at half the cost. Durability is a problem though...
Other than that, I found Prince Lightning XX 16 to be very durable because they have this coating on the string to avoid string movement. Drawback -- strings are stiff...

I agree. It looks like if you want more spin AND more durability, poly is your best bet. I think a 19 gauge poly might have more durability than 16 gauge PSGD.

I don't know about Poly's though, cause I mishit a bit, and doesn't that break the string?

I usually break PSGD 17g in 2 weeks playing 2X a week, but both Klip Legend (17g & 18g) and Babolat VS Team (17g) last me over 3 months. If you hybrid these with, say, Isospeed Prof, it's quite economical. For me, it's about $30 for over 3 months (about $15 for natural gut mains and $5 for the cross, and $10 labor for stringing), or just $10/month. It is not only economical, it's great for your arm since you mishit sometimes. |

Try gut, in my experience, it's been more durable than multis and syn guts.
