Why doesn't it looks like he could?

Anyway, it isn't a massively huge amount of weight.

For a tennis player it might be quite a lot...

Agassi is definitely strong, not hard to believe. 300 is not that huge, people are doing 5,6, or 700 as body builders. I think for the NFL combine they push a weight like 2 or 300 lbs as many times as they can, and even putting up 20 some reps is not considered very special. Agassi worked very hard on his fitness and conditioning, probably more than almost every pro tennis player. I could bench about 200 back in highschool and I didnt even work on it that much then or now.

It's a good number, most people would never guess it when they look at Agassi though. Tonlars I believe at the combine it's 225 as many times as possible, I think Casey Hampton did 34 reps this year. I didn't know Andre could bench that much either, but the top competitors in any sport are usually athletic freaks.

yeah...i mean obviously 300 isnt much for like a bball player or football player or especially a weightlifter but i dont think many tennis players can pull that off

Also, short arms makes it easier to bench press.

I was benching 250 in high school and never considered myself close to having Agassi's build. I actually heard that he could bench press 350. I knew a couple guys benching 300+ who didn't look all that big.

yeah, i think it is 225, and i think that igor olshansky of the chargers put it up over 50 times. i think tiger woods can also bench 300+. i have no doubts that tiger or agassi or any top notch athletes are probably incredibly talented in other sports as well.

Do you think the UFC figher Tank Abbot looks like he could bench 600 lbs?

It's been a long time, but if my memory serves right, UFC showed a clip of him benching 600 lbs. Well, he still can't defend himself against an arm bar but that's another story.

An informal benchmark for "advanced" level of strength is 300-400-500.

300lbs bench
400lbs squat
500lbs deadlift

One doesn't have to look strong to be strong. I was messing around once on the flat bench and decided to press 3 plates on each side (315 lbs.). I had no spotter and pressed 1 rep pretty easily. My buddy, Gus, who is 6'2 and 240 lbs. decided to give it a shot. Gus gets the bar up around 4 inches above his chest and I could see that he could go no further after about 3 seconds so I pulled the bar back up. Gus' friend decided to give 315 a try and he never got the bar off his chest. Luckily, I'm a strong spotter so I hoisted the bar up before any damage was done. My point is that here's this little guy of 185 lbs. putting up 315 while this big 240 pounder couldn't do it. You don't have to look strong to be strong.

I'll post a video of me doing 275. I was shooting for 3 plates that day, but I felt a pinch in my shoulder during 275 so I stopped there. BTW, what does your mom put in the kim bop?

Barrel-chested guys with stick legs and loose pj bottoms with the tiger stripes?

ROFL those were the zoombas pants or whatever and that was a funny skit.

I don't know if he can still put up that kind of weight now, but I'd definitely believe it back when he was still on tour.

Anyone can bench 300+. I was doing it in my mid 20's - I weighed a lean 205lb back then.

I did a few things.

1. Start doing squats, deadlifts, and dips.

2. For your working sets start with a weight you can do comfortably 3-6 times then increase the poundage by 2.5 pounds every week no matter what.

3. Lift heavy!! Lifting heavy is 70% mental. The first time you lift 275-300lb, your brain says OH @#$! this is heavy. And you psyche yourself out.

I started lifting in a smith rack/squat rack it gave me the safety net my mind needed to to allow me to go heavy.

4. Practice the lock out, Locking your elbows.

There ya go easy

yeah i guess u dont have to look that big to bench a lot. It would have been a little harder to believe if he could curl 150 pounds. Now you have to be able to see some bicep if u can curl that much

I guess anythings possible but I've never seen anyone attempt to curl 150LB. But yeah I'm thinkig your biceps and back would be huge. Hardest part would be not tipping forward I think

Earl Boykins, at less than 5'5'' and around 140lbs, can bench 315.

It's listed at the very bottom of this page.
