How much does the size of a grip affect your play?

I have two wilson n6 rackets. One is 4 1/4 and another is 4 3/8. The feel of the 4 3/8 is much better, but how much does the grip affect my play?

I am not sure about this, but this is what I think. I have heard somewhere that the smaller the grip, the more spin and racquet head spin you can get, the larger the grip, the more stability and 'weight' behind the racquet, this is why nadal, who disregarding your like or dislike, hits heavy topspin, and uses an extremely small grip for his hand size. I have also heard that many other pros do the same thing for increased topspin. However, at the same time, too unusual a grip (large or small) can cause wrist and other injuries. Just what i think...

WEll IMO when i hold on to a Smaller grip or larger grip the grip feels lighter or heavier. Yeah Rafael Nadal 6257 is right i heard both federer and nadal using 4 1/4 grips even if they are suppose to use 4 3/8 or 4 5/8. I play with a 4 1/8 racquet but my hands are suit to be 4 3/8 but i feel i can produce more spin with the smaller grip.

i tend to spin more with the smaller grip... but it does not volley well

Smaller grips usually end up in racket twisting. I cannot use anything smaller than 3/8 and I think Im a 5/8, but use a 1/2.

Everyone is talking about this and lots of pros are recommending it to people who are buying racquets. I heard a guy the other day saying he ordered new sticks and they are backordered in the smaller grip size.

After playing with a 4 1/4 grip forever, I switched to a 4 3/8s vantage for about a month and now have the first case of TE ever. Frame specs were about the same and strung identically. The proper size to avoid injury is more important than spin production, IMHO.

Rumor is that Guga uses a small grip with only two overwraps instead of a grip and wrap to get a small grip for spin. I agree that the smaller grips produce more spin while larger grips are much better for stability at the net.

I agree 100%. I initially hated the N6.1 because the only time I used it was when my friend lent me his 4 1/2 and I'm a 4 3/8 and it felt as heavy as a dump truck. Now, after using it at my proper grip it feels much lighter.

Ya i know i tried playing with my captains 4 1/2 dunlop AG300 and i almost died cause i couldnt hold the racqket better. I know there 2 different racquets but how i had to hold the racquet was different i couldnt even do a eastern onehbadned backhand cause I couldnt hold on to the grip tight enough LAWL
