I don't know why but, recently I've began to experience some pain in my fingers when I make contact with the ball. I use a 4 3/8 grip, I always have, and its never bothered me before. I know I could be using 4 1/2 grip but, I don't. Anyways, you think it's about time I switch? Is there anything I can do to strengthen my hand? I appreciate your feedback.

you can try squeezing tennis balls or a stress ball to strengthen your fingers.

Doing grip work actually helped me. Just strengthen those fingers - you can squeeze on a tennis ball to do it. I learned a long time ago that any time you have some kind of pain, chances are there is some kind of exercise you can do to strengthen certain muscles to eliminate that pain.

As Rickson suggests, you might be squeezing too tightly. Most of the time your grip should be very loose. Let it tighten up naturally (only) when the racket is accelerated on the forward (or upward) swing. It should only tighten to about half grip strength. As you are completely your follow-thru, the fingers should, once again, relax.
Is it possible that you have arthritis in you fingers? Quote:
