Default racquet head size and string tension

i've noticed that most racquets with a 100 inch head have a tension range of 55-65, and racquets with a lower head size like 90 have a range of 50-60, is there a proportional corelation or just something. cause i notice on a 100 inch a 65 tension feels the same as a 60 on a 90 head. this is probably common sense, i was wondering if anyone could fill me in with more info

Common sense would indicate that you're right. In the early 80's, when Prince first introduced their largehead rackets, recommended tension was up to 72 pounds. Some of their later models had recommended tensions up to 77 pounds. A smaller headed racket would feel like a board at that tension.

The strings are longer in a large head racquet. Stiffness of a string when tensioned is directly proportional to its length. Many smaller head racquets also have a dense string pattern, which increases stringbed stiffness. So, the tension ranges are designed to compensate for this.

To add to what has already been posted, think of the difference of stresses on a frame such as the POG mp, which has a 14X18 pattern relative to a Dunlop 200G with an 18X20 pattern. That's a lot of extra strings to add stress to the frame.

Default The exception to the rule

seems to be the Babolat PC MP Team -100sq in head, recommended range 50 -55 lbs... I am considering switching to this stick, but I need low power, anyone have any experience hitting with this racket strung up to about 60?
