On mine, I put lead tape just to cover the silver part that surrounds the "+" at 3 and 9 o'clock. That stiffens up the hoop a bit so it is more stable and the slice is also more penetrating. About 4.5 g total. You won't be able to tell the lead tape because the racket was that color already there. I am in Western Michigan. Only indoors this time of the year. Today's high is 16 deg F but we keep playing tennis. About the bag. Even with that shipping, it is still a very good deal. The part I like the best about it is that it is a lean 6-pack. You can put 6 rackets in thee but the bag is narrower than most other 6-packs. Last edited by loubapache : 12-13-2010 at 09:36 AM. |

It lists Fischer Magnetic Tour ++ (heavy) as: 294! It lists the Fischer M Pro Number One 98 SL as 311. I traded a Black Granite Tour for a Magnetic Tour ++ (320g stamped weight) recently. I never measured either but think the Magnetic Tour might swing a touch lighter and I felt I got some more spin. I would be shocked if the SW was 294 though. The person I traded with felt they played very similar in weight, balance and swingweight but the Granite felt a bit firmer. I've never had a chance to try the Pro One 98. |

These spec numbers are all over the place, aren't they? If you go to the twu power zone comparison and locate PK 5G. What they have is weight: 312 g and SW: 302. That is absolutely not possible. These are more like unstrung specs but the TWU numbers did not have any footnote or else. I think we need to take all these posted specs with caution. That said, I believe the 294 and 311 SW numbers are both low for the Magnetic Speed Tour SL and MPro No 1 SL. The difference of 17 units of SW sounds about right for the two from my experience. Both my BG Tour SL are 343 g, 9.5 pts HL, and SW 308. Both are stock except with over grip. I think that is about right. The SW of Pro No 1 SL should be in the 315 - 325 range. I think everything will be relative. Personally for me, I was using the Dunlop MaxPly McEnroe and that is a very stable but stiff frame. I added weight to the handle so they were 340 g, 5.5 pts HL and with a SW of around 330. I got into shoulder problem using that frame with poly strings so that was why I got interested in the Fischer frames. (I was already using PK 5G at the time but the upper hoop is just too dead even with added lead at 2-10 oclocks. Overall the 5G is still a good frame but could have been better if the upper hoop is more lively.) When I first got the MSpeed Pro No 1, my first impression was that the upper hoop was too flexible so it was not as stable as the McEnroe and did not have much power outside the sweat zone, which is small for a 98 in^2 frame. So I dded 4.5 g to the 3-9 o'clock right away and the second time out was much better. This also increased the SW a bit to my liking. I have been using it for more than three years now. String low (no higher than 55 lb) with a soft string is also kind of important for it to have a decent size sweat zone and power. If comfort is your main concern and you want to stay within the Fischer family, try play test the Pro No 1 105. It is a very comfortable frame with enough control, lots more spin, and much larger sweat zone. Then it does look more round than the 98 version so it is "a la Pure Drive". Hope no reader of this thread is bidding on a MSpeed Pro No 1 on the auction site that closes in about an hour. That is a junior racket but the seller did not say it clearly and the picture looks like a normal Pro No 1. However, the details are there.

I bought them thinking I would use them later since I also have a pair of the red/green one (also in picture). They have the newer (Wilson type) butt caps but I liked the old ones better. I am not trying to make any money but these are new rackets. Email me via my profile if you are still interested. Thanks for asking. Last edited by loubapache : 12-15-2010 at 05:35 AM. |

The other four all have "Austria" on them. Not "Made in Austria", just "Austria". The yellow/green ones do not have "Austria" on them. Last edited by loubapache : 12-15-2010 at 12:26 PM. |

Hi all
Interesting posts but did I miss something? Were some red/green Pro N1 made in Austria ?? I noticed Fischer racquets had 'Fischer Austria' written on the frame but I never noticed 'Made in Austria'. Closer pics maybe ? Thanks And great posts, as always |

You are right, NicoMK. It does not say "Made in Austria".
Some red/green have "Fischer" and "Austria" (two lines) but some others do not have "Austria" (just "Fischer"). The ones after the red/green also do not have "Austria". So we can speculate the "Austria" part. Made in Austria? Designed in Austria? Fischer, a Company in Austria? Fischer, a Parent Company of Fischer China, which is based in Austria? LOL |

Fischer Pro 1's have been made in China for a long time already. At least since 2001. I was once sponsored by them and my racquets were already made in China. Perfect racquets though

The last one is a good one! I for myself would say 'Fischer, a company of Austria'… My first Pro Classic 98 was bought in 1998 and it was already written 'Fischer Austria' on it. It would be interesting to have a frame made around 1996-97 and see what's written on it. Anyway, as TheRed said, great racquets though, amazing QC etc. But we all know that, don't we? |

Thanks VS.
Yes, some of my Fischer rackets have "Fischer Austria" but some only have "Fischer". |

This "Made in Austria" vs "Fischer Austria" vs "Fischer" is interesting stuff.
Here is a Fischer Vacuum Pro Classic Mid 90. I do not have this racket, just some images from the auction site. You can see "Fischer Austria" (two lines in the second picture) on the side and top of the grip. ![]() ![]() |
