Default Speed up the hard courts please!!!!!!

Does anybody out there want to see the courts sped up? I wish someone would. It would be nice to see aggresive players rewarded for their play and would bring back more variety into the game. The pro game could use some more variety not just baseline play. Any opinions?

Well as much as I would like to agree with you on the hc speed, I have a bit different solution. Imo the best way to add variety to tennis is to make sure that out of the 13 main tounraments ( 4 GS's, 8 TMS and 1 YEC ) at least three are played on grass. The way it is now, we have only Wimbledon on grass, 4 on clay. If we would have more grass courts, we would have more variety. I agree that we need a couple of extra fast HC tourneys so that means we need at least one extra fast on the tour but grass would be very nice.

grass court isn't exactly fast court now, is it? this year, AO director claimed they are now 2nd fastest slam after us open.

Well did you consider I was not talking about the grass now ? Still I do think grass provides something specific, you will see a lot of aces and winners even on todays wimby grass because it is still grass and its slipery. Also it is a natural court which is better for overall health of the players.

Ps - I tend not listen to the guys who are involved in something, talking about that very thing. AO director can claim whatever he wants.

Terrible thread. The only slow hardcourts are Indian Wells and Miami. Slow down the hardcourts.

why would you want to slow down hard courts?
there is clay for a reason.

Alright speed up the hard courts and lengthen the clay season to 3 months instead of 2 months. Cut down in the amount of hard court events as well. Most things these days suit players like Federer, Djokovic, and Davydenko. Nadal has to be the GOAT on clay to stay number 2.

Tonight you are a bit nervous ? Of course we should have more diversity on the ATP. On the other hand Federer, Djokovic and Davydenko are the Roland Gaross semifinalists so please do not tell me you thought they do not play extremly well on clay ?

Well they like the medium-fast surface the most while Roddick and Blake like the extreme fast surfaces. So most of the tour is geared toward these 3 players likings.

Geared towards them? I think it's just inevitable since they are good on virtually every surface.

I like having a variety of hard court speeds, it adds to the excitment and gives us a look at different players and different styles, also its only fair to have varying speeds because if the speed was fast on all then certain players would have a constant and extreme advantage over other players and vis-versa, this way all players have to play on surfaces they are both comfortable and uncomfortable with and the playing field is level over the course of a year, maybe what they should do is actually play less on hardcourts because they make up 60% of ATP tournys and the players better on hard courts are at an advantage rankings and earning potential wise, maybe they should have a few more clay, another week of grass, and perhaps a few more indoor carpet, thats a huge change though and would never happen even if it would be the most fair

I totally agree. Some of the other people don't seem to want that though. They want everything fast.

My friend, the tour is not geared towards anyones likings. The tour is as it is and they are as they are - the two are not connected in any way. It just happenes that Djokovic and Federer can play indoors, on clay, grass, hard courts ..
