sp has two new stringing machines and the Hip Hop, despite being named rather oddly, seems to be a good machine.

anybody can comment?

It's $20 cheaper then the Alpha Pioneer DC Plus but it has Cone Lock Clamp Bases....IMO it's well worth the extra $20 for Spring Assisted Clamp Bases. Other then that it looks pretty solid. I'm surprised at all the companies that still use Cone Lock Clamp Bases on their medium to upper end machines (Mutual Power).

Same thing goes for the Crump model. It's the same price as the Alpha Revo once you include shipping and with Alpha you can choose which string to get (Gut 2000 is still a great string). Once again the Revo comes with Spring Assisted Clamps.

The Opus doesn't make a lot of sense either as for $200 more you can grab the Babolat Star 5 which is getting rave reviews and it has the Babolat Sensor electronics.

I don't understand the new offerings from Silent Partner. They are usually a little less priced then their competitors but with similar features. This time around they don't have similar features/quality for nearly the same price if not a tad bit more once you include what strings you're getting and other little things. I'm not impressed with this years offerings. I still like their Maestro though and find it to be a great value for a floor model. I also like their built in load spreaders at the 6 & 12 o'clock support posts.

i have the maestro and it is there quality crank. the mounting, clamps, and turntable are as good as any. i wouldn't buy anything less than the maestro.

I have a Star V, and Alpha Apex II w/wise tension... and I still want a SP Opus... I guess I'm addicted, lol

Has anyone here ever seen or used the SP Opus? Those look like nice machines.

I am a little confused about the pricing of the new SP machines too. I am sure they are good, but I don't think they have competitive prices when comparing features.

As of now that the Alpha raised prices, SP does have competitive prices.
