Default Strange pain in my hand...

So I've had nearly every common ache and pain associated with Tennis at one time or another. However, I now have a horrible pain in my hand between the second and third metacarpal (counting the thumb metacarpal as "one"). The pain happens mostly when my wrist is laid back, as in hitting forehands, or during the upward snap from the trophy position serving. It actually hurts the most during the serve.

First of all, what the hell could I have done? Second, have any of you had this or something similar happen?

It feels a bit like it could be tendonitis, in that it gets bearable when the hand has become loose from warm-up. I am resting, icing, NSAID-in, etc. but am wondering if there might be cause for worry other than standard.

It could be an inflammed nerve. Believe it or not, you can have a shoulder injury that you'll feel on your hand so don't neglect that possibility.

Ice and rest. Don't just ice the hand, ice the shoulder as well and see what happens. It worked wonders for me when I had tingles in my right hand. I iced the right shoulder and within a few days, the tingles went away.

watermantra, any updates on the hand pain??

I have the same problem, same area, and only started a month ago, no problems before this one. It started I believe either cos after I used a larger grip size than my usual 4 1/4 on a new Wilson K90 tour, heavier then my usual 11oz racquets...or I hurt my hand in the batting cages around the same time I started using the K90 Tour, I was hitting fastballs and am pretty decent, hit around 60 out of 72 pitches, w/o wearing a glove and my metal bat had very poor grips....so not sure what caused this injury.

I am now taking atleast 7 days off? Hoping it is not a major injury, do you think I need an x-ray?? I guess I shoudl just ice and rest for now??
