Didn't have eough room to include your name in the thread title chico, your input is very much appreciated though!!!
And everyone else on this forum for that matter _______________________________ Ok, so just off the top of my head, I was thinking: *Grips> 1)Simple defintions, ie: hand on top, underneath the handle etc.Stressing that the names are not logical etc.Complicated explanation: ie, bevel system. *Grips 2)Strike zones, advantages, disadvantages of etc *Footwork: Starting off with the simple stuff,(split steps etc) and building up to more complicated stuff, (positioning etc).I'm in two minds about whether really technical stuff like types of steps and recovery steps should be included, I could go either way really. *Basic technique for all strokes: And I mean basics, ie, unit turn, extension, (finish maybe?). *Maybe a troubleshooting section, ie, common problems we're asked about and fixes we usually give, eg: I hit a very very slow loopy ball, answer: extend through the line of the shot etc. What do you all think? This is just a preliminary outline to get us started, if you guys don't like it, we can completely change this!

i think we need like 5 FAQ stickys each with their own theme ie
grips FAQ : i think the bevel system simplifies things not complicates, because it is objective. There is no "i call that semi-western and he says its extreme eastern" its purely the base knuckle is on 4 FH FAQ: problems & solutions BH FAQ: problems & solutions SERVE FAQ: problems & solutions VOLLEY/SMASH FAQ: problems & solutions ?? FAQ but in the end i don't know if it will work because there is too much subjectivity in what is best in tennis. We rarely have a topic which is black and white, so its no good to say there is a FAQ which has a definitive answer. People are inherently self important and want an answer for THEIR specific problem (often not thinking that there are a million other people who do the same thing) but i'm keen to help in any way if it proceeds

also it means that if someone wants info on say BH footwork they might also see something interesting on BH preparation that would also benefit (kinda two birds on stone theory)

So I am going to summarize to get my arms around this: 1) Grips: Advantages, disadvantages, hand positions, reference points, etc... 2) Footwork/Movement: Footspeed, foot quickness, footwork patterns, forward movement, lateral movement, diagonol movement, drills, combinations, and overall movement from recognition of where the ball is going to recovering to close the court again. 3) Stroke technique: Serves, volleys, backhand, forehand, approach shots, short balls, overheads, return of serve, half-volleys 4) Strategy and tactics (both practical and theory): Directionals, System 5, building/working points, HIT-BOUNCE-HIT, etc... 5) Self-management: Emotional management, mental management, physical management, setting goals, etc... 6) Drills and practices: This could be mixed in with the above or can be viewed as to how to approach drills and practices and link them to match play. 7) Stances: Understanding linear and angular rotation, etc...

Once you have all the threads completed, you create a locked/sticky FAQ thread with links to the other threads. Just a suggestion for how I've seen this accomplished on other boards. |

The problem here is people are too lazy to open a FAQ and read it. They would rather start a new thread asking something that has been asked the 1001th time. Good Luck!

Irrelevent. Instead of answering the question 100 times, one can now simply answer a post with a link to the FAQ. The user asking the question will find their answer, and will hopefully look there first the next time they have a question.
