I think you will have a hard time finding one of these. Perhaps you can contact Herb Wise and see if he has some used ones.

John, seriously, I think I'd buy a new one this time. The earliest models had some longevity problems. The problem was fixed apparently a few years back. You really don't want to get hold of one of the earlier ones, and I think Wise's warranty makes it a good idea to put out the $600 for the new one. I have one, and really like it. It takes a few dozen string jobs to get used to if you don't already have an electronic machine, but it does speed up the stringing a bit after a few rackets.

Thanks for the thoughtful feedback. I guess I am wondering how I justify $500 on my 65-70 string jobs a year. I do like toys and my favorites are electronic and sports related, which the 2086 is both.

Plus, your buddies may see this and think "wow, and electric stringer". Your stringing business may double or triple

The LAST thing I want is more stringing business. I string for personal satisfaction and the convenience it brings. I string friends racquets so my friends get better service and string/tension advice than they usually get at shops.
I charge $10 over the string so that I don't take the bread out of the mouth of people trying to make a living doing this. I would hate for the commercial stringers to go out of business. My interest in the 2086 is based on it being FUN to have a fancy tool.
