Hi All,
New to the forums. I'm a frequent visitor to the hockey "warehouse" forums and I've got to say there is quite a big difference in the number of people that post here as do there...i.e. lots of tennis players around. I've been scanning the forums a bit and can see that the posters on here are avid players/fans and very knowledgable about their sport. Having played for about 20+ years myself, I feel I've found a new home. I'm curious what other sports are you all playing besides tennis. Is tennis your primary sport? I still play a fair amount of badminton but have had to cut back quite a bit cuz of rotator problems. Badminton is considerably more stressful to my shoulder than tennis. -- pulling the arm back quickly for overhead shots is the primary problem. A couple of my buddies with shoulder problems still play tennis but have given up on the badminton for the same reason.
Still try to play badminton once or twice a week cuz it's a great workout. It also helps my tennis game -- quickness at the net, overhead smashes (& serves), touch shots, deception, and creative shot-making in emergency situations. |

Tennis is my primary sport, but I also run and do shorter races...anywhere from 5k to 10 miles.

I run and lift. Lifting relates to sports to I figure it's valid.

table tennis. playing table tennis at a fairly high level really dials in my footwork, leg strength, and reflexes.

Roller skating, Basketball, Field Hockey, Squash... All play second fiddle to tennis, but I will try for the school basketball team next year seeing as tennis won't start till spring and there aren't many tournaments in winter.

i like to play just about any sport that i can... but right now tennis is primary. tennis only takes one other player so it pretty easy to get out for a hit. basketball, baseball (softball), volleyball, football all take more players and isn't easy to do. every once in a while we get some buddies together and play some football. also play some 2 on 2 beach volleyball, but it is mostly tennis these days.

I used to play soccer, but swimming took over that. I swam competitively a lot (5 times a week) for about 6 years, but I kind of burned out. I took up tennis last year and am enjoying it so much. I still swim though, just not as much.

I play football (soccer), that is becoming my main sport it seems now, as I am playing a 5 a side all year league during my last year of school and I don't really have anyone to play tennis with. I also lift weights, play table tennis, used to play rugby.

No golfers out there? I thought tennis and golf went hand-in-hand as the "life-long" sports.
I golf, ski, and play volleyball. They are all pretty interchangable. I credit golf to helping me with my 2HBH and my overhand serve/spike in volleyball translates well to the tennis court. Skiing helps with endurance and bending at the waist/knees. Tennis is my primary sport though... 4-5 times a week. |
