Hey everyone. i am trying to decide what would be the better synthetic gut to have. how do they compare in terms of crispness, power, spin, control, durability, and just overall playability. an opinion on what synthetic gut i should carry is greatly appreciated. Thanks
( if there is a better bang for your buck synthetic gut please feel free to mention it) |

I'm not sure what PSGD is, but I use a full bed of Gosen OG Sheep and I love it... plus, its really cheap so if you don't like it, you can prob just cut it out...

I prefer the PSGD though I have reels of both. When my shoulder is bothering me I do full beds of PSGD and when it's not, Polyester with Gosen crosses.
The PSGD has a little texture and I think gives a little more spin, power and control. The Gosen is a smoother string and while OK, I prefer the PSGD in a full bed.

i find they play almost the same, however i find i like the gosen, because it's quite a bit cheaper in the reel, and it doesnt have the duraflex stuff on it, it just looks reg, unlike with duraflex's spiral things. i just dont like to look at them. go figure ?

I've never used the Gosen but I used PSGD for awhile. PSGD, in my opinion, is very crisp. Now, some people may interpret that as being stiff and uncomfortable. I'm just saying that each person has a different idea of what's really "comfortable". You'll never know unless you try it. Sorry if this wasn't very helpful..

Ive used both ins a 17g and found that psgd seemed crispier. I think I like psgd more but I still would rather use gosen micro because it is cheaper.

PSGD has seemed to be a little softer to me. I was at a tournament and snapped two sets of Gosen sheep and found a guy that strung them up for me with the PSGD at the same tension (or at least that is what I requested). Just seemed too soft and spongy to me. Truth is though, I'm not sure what he strung it at or how good he was at stringing--I just needed them done and let the first guy I could find string them for me. I cut them out that night and re-installed the Gosen OG.

PSGD and POSG are both better than Gosen sheep, in every way exept price.IMO.
I perfer PSGD over POSG, but both are very good cheap syn gut. PSGD is crisper, has a little more pop and more control. POSG is more comfortable and seems to keep its playabilty a longer. Hope that helps. |

I use PSGD as a cross in a hybrid with Cyberflash mains. To me its pretty comfortable. I kinda have a rubber arm though, where as she has a sensitive arm. |

I find PSGD and Gosen Micro Sheep to be very similar. I don't actually like either in a full-bed though, just as cross strings. They just break too quickly that way.

I've tried both and I prefer the Gosen.
PSGD is too crisp, ending up kind of hard. And it moves way too much. Gosen is certainly not mushy, but not as "crisp" as the PSGD. The Gosen has a nice balance of touch and crispness, and some bite (in thinner gauges--17 or 18 ). Surprisingly, I have found the Gosen to last longer than PSGD in hybrids with CF.
