What is a French - What is an american?

Just to continue a post that have been recently deleted, please take it like it must be taken : half serious and half humourous,

1/ Compared to many other occidentals a bigger % of the French population smells, it's a fact - our food smells - and we don't brush our tooths enough

but it's not a problem because with time we get accustomed to the smell problem

2/ We have many other defects, so much that I can't list them all

3/ Our food smells but our food is good :P

4/ True that French international politic can be criticized - Same thing about the USA one

5/ Though french peoples have many defects, they also have many qualities, so much that I can't list them all

(hmmm not so sure finally!)

6/ Some reasons to like France : girls are pretty, men are hot lovers, the "french kiss" is our copiryght, our food smells but our food is good :P

7/ Israel and Arab countries = bad faith on both sides - let's just hope that finally the actual minorities in those countries that are reasonables, want peace, and want good relationships with their neighbours, will finally become the actual majority, take the power, and make peace once for all. I'm afraid that it will take much time, perhaps it's even demanding too much!

8/ Some reasons to like America : so many that I can't list them all, but here are some : Tennis warehouse, Music (blues, Jazz, Rock'n roll, soul, Rap), Coke and Pepsi-cola, junk food, some Hollywood films, USA saved Europe during WWII

9/ Some reasons to dislike America : Bush international action (ask everywhere in the world), Coke and Pepsi Cola, Junk food, though USA food don't smell at all, USA food is really bad.

10/ Major thing that strangers retain when they come in the USA : the incredible big % of fat, obese peoples, probably related to your "no smell and no taste food"

11/ What is an American? it's someone whose parents or who directly came from almost all over the world, Afro americans whoses parents came as slaves, white caucasians whose parents came from europe, Americano-Asians whose parents build your railway, south americans whose parents came as low cost workers, and finally it's someone who is pretty patriotic and proud to be american (with some good reasons).

But please don't be too rude with US citizen whose ancestries came from France (a fair % of the poulation I think), and dont' forget Mr LAFAYETTE.

French women = hairy armpits and chain smokers = ugly after mid 40's -- when was the last time you were in France? Majority of Parisian women are foreigners.

Pretty entertaining post Spinbalz. I only kid the French, or any country/ethnicity for that matter, because I love them!! I saw an interview with Chris Rock and he was getting grief from the interviewer because of all his supposed "racist" jokes against blacks and whites. He responded that if we can't laugh at each other, we really are in trouble. Being 1/2 native american, I can't tell you how many times my buds gave me the wooh wooh wooh. Remember the cigar store indian episode of Seinfeld? Crazy Horse malt beverage? Chris Rock's "When was the last time you saw a native american family at Red Lobster" bit? All funny to me. What did I miss that caused the last thread to be deleted? All the good topics get canned. I have noticed that my visits to the TW boards over the years have dropped from daily, to 3-4 times per week to a once a week thing. I'm going over to the nut house where it's fun.

Yes I'm french, and proud to be from the same country as, Victor Hugo, Stendhal, Balzac, Maupassant, Zola, Rimbaud, Verlaine, Chateaubriand, Alexandre Dumas, Voltaire, Rousseau, and Brigitte Bardot (guess who is the intruder in my list), and shamefull to see that the fascist leader Jean Marie Lepen and his ignominious political party collect more and more votes at each elections since more than 20 years.

Spinbalz, I applaud your effort for your diplomatic and humorous post. I think all countries have great things to offer and some not-so-great things, people are people. We're not so different when you get down to the basics.

Yeah, people are people, etc., but damn Paris does smell-I could never understand why the local authorities haven't enacted a law requiring people to clean up after their dogs? Seems pretty simple. Not much civic pride from a city population that uses the city streets as a pet toilet.

Speaking as likely the only "native american" on this forum, the whole "native american" thing is overblown to me and many others of my ilk. Our ancestors came here from Asia, supposedly, so are we native americans any more than someone born here in the last 50 years or so? I guess they were the first people in the Americas, so they are "native" people. To me, "native american" is another term that does nothing but separate and isolate. I have always preferred "american indian". As I have said many times on this forum, the past is the past. Let it be and move forward. Don't focus on the past. Remember and honor the past, live in the present, look forward to the future. It's funny because it always seems like the people who get so fired up about minority rights are not minorities and really have no stake in the argument. All the while, many minorities are saying to themselves, "What's the big deal? C'mon, let's hit the Sizzler!".

Morpheus-Are you kidding me? Actually, I live in a spacious ranch-style tee pee just minutes from the beach. Buckskin walls, cathedral ceiling, buckskin rugs. Fabulous. Like they say; location, location, location. It has a two-horse parking garage (I only ride bare-back, of course) for me and my squaw. I have a PhD in clinical nutrition, so I guess I meet two of the criteria in the "Doctors, Lawyers and Indian Chiefs" analogy. At least the doctor and indian part, 'cause I'm not a chief. Going out tonight looking for some scalps. Who is with me?
