This is why dislike football; Too many 'grey' areas within the rules. Oh well. At 11 v 11, Man Utd were shading it, and playing with a very fast pace when they were on the attack. As soon as Utd went down to 10 men, Real for the next 20 mins were in control and that was all there was. Nice strike from Modric and I'm glad Kaka got a game (my favourite football player by far). Still annoyed Man Utd should have had at least one penalty and should have won the game.

PS: Dortmund to win the champions league. Milan to finish of Barca.

Disagree. Barcelona is on verge of being eliminated soon. Bayern would likely *****slap them now. Real has decent chances, but no more than Juventus or Borussia

The stage is set for Arsenal to do a "Chelsea" this year. Here's looking at you, Gooners.

I think that was his tactic all along - he was clearly sucking up to Fergie. He knows he's done in Spain no matter how well Madrid do from here on out in Europe this term. Did you notice how he left the pitch 2 minutes before the whistle blew?

Yeah I too was happy to see Kaka playing, he is a great person off the pitch so I'm always excited when I see him playing, he's still got what made him so special way back when at Milan. He was kind of unlucky not to get that goal that bounced off the post and De Gea. Modric's goal was great.

But you're right about United, even with 10 men they played a fast, attacking game and still tried to play football instead of giving up. I think they were just as good after the sending off as before. With that being said I can't understand why Rooney was dropped as he was so instrumental at the weekend. Tactically, he would have been a better inclusion as he would have occupied the space left open by the adventurous Khedira and Alonso but even with that being said I'm baffled as to why it took Fergie so long to bring him in.

I'm with you on that. They were really good tonight. I was blown away by the sheer quality of their midfield, how quick they get around the pitch and keep the ball moving. Great to watch.

I'm not so sure....Barcelona have gone on a bad streak these past 2 weeks or so and I would not be surprised if they go out tomorrow with some serious anger and do to Milan what they did to Leverkussen at this stage last year.

But you're right that Bayern would absolutely throttle them right now. It wouldn't even be close.

I think it depends which Milan turns up. When they have played well this season, they have been very good, the times they haven't? They have been pretty bad!

If they make a few early mistakes and Barcelona get one back, you could be right. If they can go in at half time level, I think Barcelona and the fans might start questioning themselves over the recent form, the way they couldn't break Chelsea down last year etc.. Sense a bit of "here we go again".

It will be interesting to see.

Yeah they've had a bit of a Jeykell-and-Hyde streak in them this season haven't they? It's all depended on their strike force which is brilliant but can go missing at times.

If they give Barcelona a look-in early enough, the floodgates will open and they'll get destroyed. If they get an early one or decide to park the bus (which their supporters won't approve of) they might sneak into the next round.

Yeah, they can be a bit tempramental in defence for my liking. Mexes is a good defender, but he's prone to making some strange mistakes, whilst Abbiati can be great for spells, but also go for stretches where he can't keep it from going through his legs!

As you mentioned, they do have goals in them. Pazzini, El Shaarawy, Balotelli if he's back from injury, Boateng and a few others. It has the potential to be a high scoring game, if it comes down to that.

But should it come down to that I don't think many teams can go punch-for-punch in terms of goals with Barcelona when they are on their day.

I wonder what the XI Milan will run out tomorrow will be, surely they'll try to defend first and foremost?

How much different to last season is this Milan side? Even with Pique (who is rightly distracted by being married to Shakira) and Puyol (old) Barcelona have looked like conceding a goal every game. They can't go another summer thinking that Mascherano and Busquets will suffice at centre half.

Nor should they. Busquets is crap.

I'll have none of that, Busquets is a don.

They have Genoa away on Friday it's another week before we find out!

Going head-to-head with Barcelona is always dangerous, sure. If they do get one though it's an away goal, meaning Barcelona will need 4. That's a tough ask for anyone.

Busquets is someone I can't make my mind up about, he plays with two of the greatest teams to ever play the game in the Spanish side, and of course Barcelona. Is he a reason why they are so good? Or is he just very lucky that both teams could afford to put a granny out there and it not make much of a difference? When you have Xavi, Iniesta, Fabregas, Alonso etc.. alongside them, you're never really going to see him truly tested.

I might be biased with his antics in the tie vs Inter back when Mou was with them fresh in my mind. Do you recall his "peek-a-boo" incident where he tried to con the referee?

That's right, the ties tomorrow are PSG at home against Valencia and Celtic away to Juventus. I think we all know how both ties will shape up, Valencia will advance because of the away goals and the fact that Zlatan isn't playing, and Valencia are always dangerous in Europe. Juventus are already in the next round pretty much. Can you imagine Celtic winning 0-4 away in Turin? I can't!

That's true. But if there's anyone who can score for fun even on tough European nights, it's Messi. Giving Barcelona an excuse to attack is suicide, even against the biggest sides around.

Yeah I'm with you there, the main reason I don't rate him is for the reason I stated above. With that being said I haven't seen a whole lot of him playing at center half, under Pep he played behind Masch who in turn played in the same role he played at Liverpool: a destroyer. He didn't have to really do much besides make the occasional run forward or play the simple pass. But that's what confused me, why Barcelona wouldn't put in (or buy) a player who was capable of much more than that who could operate in the same position or space. I have seen him get caught in possession a few times and make a few poor passes. I don't think he's got a really good tactical sense. His touch and passing are good and he's never really the only one at fault for any specific bad passage of play, but then again, as you said, he's always had the best of the best surrounding him and giving him support and passing options. Can't remember too many times where he's been beaten off the dribble and made to look stupid by an opposing attacker though, which I guess is a good thing.

^^^^

I would love to see how Busquets would do in a decent/average team. It would be really interesting to see how he would do over the course of a season for Chelsea, we all know i'm highly critical of our midfield so it would be the perfect test of how good he really is.

I'm a big believer in judging players on how they play in different sides and leagues, it's what truly sets the best players apart imo. That's why i'm a huge fan of Ronaldo as a player, to do what he has done in England and Spain counts for a great deal. To look good playing for Barcelona and Spain is one thing, to adapt your game to a different League and look just as good? That's a totally different level.

That was just good camera work.

The biggest act of ****ery in 2010 was Suarez going from sobbing uncontrollably to utter joy after he realised Ghana had missed that penalty and he'd kept his side in the World Cup.

Just to clarify cause based on that I think uou think Balotelli when he returns from injury can play vs Barca....nahhe can't play in Champs League this season, since he played for City. Unfortunate, cause him and Niang and SES complement each other very well. If Balo was eligible our chances in further rounds would be higher. As it stands, Istill think Barcelona won't advance.

P.s. sooo glad the team has overturned horrible start...at one point we were a few points away from relegation. Incredibly bad start, but the new team got more acquainted (such a different teamto last season) and we climbed the table. Actually see us overtaking Napoli for second place. If only the start wasn't so bad, We'd be lighting fire under juve's butt
