Cleaning leather grips

Is there any way to clean leather grips or get the sweat stains out?

no. they can only be cleaned to bring back there firm tack feel they had when new .

Try cleaning with alcohol and then applying a few drops of castor oil to restore the tackiness.

I wouldn't advise using alcohol to clean them. That is only going to dry them out - it is skin after all- and putting oil on them is only going to leave a darker finish. You can wash them, even use soap on them if you like (once again, they are just skin so you can clean those pores). If you like a bit of a suede/calf skin feel a light going over with a wire brush will *****le it nicely.

the deleted work was pr ick le , ha ha, didn't think it would be sensored. in case it is again, the wire brush will rough it up a little bit and take away the slick feel.

Try cleaning it with a shaving cream with lanolin. I knew a guy who use to have a can of Barbasol in his bag.

Agree with Jim Hendricks. Also, go to a leather store where they sell horse saddles and buy some saddle soap. I use the saddle soap on anything leather and it works great. Don't use alcohol or you will completely dry out the leather and it will begin to crack.

You could also go to an auto parts store and buy Lexol leather cleaner and Lexol Conditioner.

Another good answer is mineral spirits. Won't dry it out as alcohol would. Do not artificially dry - let it air dry.

so when I clean the grip should i take the grip off the racquet? or leave it on?

Just leave it on, unless you really want to get inside the grooves. I would just leave it on.

i just use these armor all leather cleaner wipes. like 5 bucks for a package 45. one wipe will clean the whole grip but you gotta let it dry.
