It looks like a good deal.
Other "recruiting" sites cost a fortune, promise the moon, and you can read about their worth in other posts/thread- College section. Nobody has written anything positive about the "high dollar" recruiting sites; You are talking about a college/university "minor" sport, and at least for men, it's a college "job" with not much scholarship money. If you don't understand that you are going to be "working" a lot of hours, your freinds are pretty much your team mates, and with travel, the commitments on your grades (like if you want post graduate degree) could be hurt. These are things you better think about when you "dream" of playing College tennis. Part of your money for school may come from a job with the athletic department- Don't be suprized if you are asked to man the tennis court office for recreational hours, handing out basketballs at the gym or covering other duties for other minor sports like making sure the Gatoraide buckets are placed and filled for the women's field hockey team. You do what you have to do to play and pay for school. If you still really want to play, you have to have the grades, so the tennis coach can go to the school and squeeze you in by getting you other scholarship money- The foreign players get the tennis money, and you get a mish mash of scholarships, grants and work- This isn't football- You have to be creative and help lift the load. After all, remember you are going to school to become one of a thousand careers- but tennis pro is not one of them. I hope the readers here understand all this, and don't think a 'tennis scholarship" is some pie in the sky deal- They would be fooling themselves as badly as any kid who thinks he is going to be an NBA pro. IF you are really low on money, it looks like signing up annually when you are a JUNIOR in H.S. to TENNISRECRUITING- That's when the recruiting really starts to kick in and all your hard work starts you climbing and you get contacted thru the mail. I'm kind of suprised DALLASOLIVER hasn't offered a small needs-basis scholarship/grant set up for the cost of membership. Lots of players I have talked to say their JUNIOR year is when they started getting noticed. Also don't forget the NCAA clearinghouse sign up-You go NOWHERE without that- $50.00 (but a waiver is possible) see your school councilor. my experience with tennisrecruiting is that unless you put some college names under schools of interest in your profile, you won't get any hits unless your a 4,5, blue chip recruit.

Let me know if you have more questions on this subject. We have been live since 2005, and I think you will find that NOONE has received any unwanted mail or phone calls due to uploading information to our website. Best, Dallas |

Are you saying that everybody on this thread isn't at least a four star player? |

I wouldn't say you won't get any, you may not get as "many" but I know some 2-stars with several "looks" that don't have preferred colleges listed.

Questions for dallasoliver.
1. When will tennisrecruiting come out with a similar ranking list for international players? 2. Looking at the commitment lists, girls or boys, is there any way to tell which players have just been recently added? When the list becomes a few pages long how can you spot the new additions to the list outside of memorizing the list? 3. Why doesn't tennisrecruiting count the ITA Summer Circuit Tournaments towards their player records? Those tourneys include high school players + mostly incoming college freshmen. Many matches are between 2 players 18 years and younger. The funny part about the ITA Summer Circuit is that it doesn't count towards one's junior record or college record. I guess its just for practice. |

(1) We actually have information on quite a few international kids through our ITF results - but we don't really have enough data to do a very accurate ranking. We do make those lists available to college coaches, however... they can make custom lists with all US and Internataional kids - or, say, kids from Oklahoma, Texas, and Mexico. (2) This is something we are working on right now. No dates right now. (I know better than to promise a date!) But we are working on it. Suffice it to say it will not be available in 2008. (3) Good question - and one that we get a lot. The issues come down to a) good availability of results and b) sufficient cross-play with known quantities. We have very little data on many of the college kids right now. To include these results, we would need to pick up a lot more data - more than just those tournaments. It is something that we are thinking about and want to do - but we have many other goals as well that we are working towards. I hope this helps. Best, Dallas |

More question for dallasoliver.
1. Why don't I see any international players indicating their schools of interest? Do international players have the option to? 2. For the international players on the commitment lists, who actually inputs that the player has given a verbal to a school? Is it the international player himself, the coach receiving the verbal or does tennisrecruiting do it? |

1) International players do have the ability to upload information, and some of them do. But our appeal and reach is much more within U.S. tennis. Expanding internationally is something we have talked about, but it will be difficult to bring much of what we do to international kids. 2) It's a combination of all three. Players and coaches both have the ability to set commitments on our website. We also monitor "official" sources such as official athletic department websites and websites of recognized newspapers. I hope this helps. Best, Dallas |
