Bad timing?

This weekend I just played a tournament and I was scheduled to play the number two seed. I thought that I could possibly have a chance of beating him because I was really confident in myself since I just won a huge previous match. Anyways, during that previous match my racket broke so I just used my spare. But when I was practicing today, My SPARE BROKE! My tournament was only hours away! Anyways, I could not find a racket that was the same as mine in time. I used a club demo and lost the match 6-0, 6-0. Afterwards my coach says that i didn't try hard enough. How can i try hard if the racket was a power racket and I had a control one before. Bad luck? what should i have done?

Most pro shops if you explain to them the situation will string a racket asap. I have had this happen to me before when I didnt have a stringer. I needed a racket strung and needed to pick it up in two hours and they charge me like a $3 rush fee but that was it. and The racket doesn't cause you to lose 0,0 IMO.

If you are going to play tournament tennis,you're going to need more than 2 rackets ... if not, then you should prepare to have your rackets re-strung before each big tournament and/or carry around a few sets of strings in your bag that you use,so in case you need to have it re-strung,anyplace with a stringing service can do it for you ASAP and you just pay for labor ...
If you are serious about tournament tennis,I suggest you invest in a stringing machine and learn how to string your own rackets...

1. Don't blame the racquet. Give props to your opponent.

2. Be better prepared, whether it be re-stringing a day or two before a big tourney, investing in a cheap drop-weight stringer or having more racquets.

3. Let it go and get him next time.

i have the same problems except i own the racket and it isnt a demo.i need a control racket.

racket had maybe at 1 game difference on why you lost...no more than that

It was very bad luck, but come on a different racket is not the reason why you lost 0 and 0

My tourneys on sunday, and i only use 1 racket. should i take another one, even though its completley different, incase it breaks or strings go etc.?

If you are playing in tournaments, you need at least three rackets.

As you get older/stronger it is nothing to be breaking a center main (up and down from handle) at LEAST once a week- and it seems to always be one of the same two strings.
That's good, solid play- Just like a golf club face being marked up in the exact same spot, not all over the place. But you will always have one "in the shop".

The next thing is to wrangle deals on string and try to learn how to do it on a machine you can beg access to.

By the way, there is no way you get bageled just because you use another racket.... You could use a frying pan and get at least a game- Sounds like a let down from previous "high" a plateu reached once- Now the goal is to reach that level consistantly- Best of luck.

Do you know that Stepanek lost to Federer (4 and 4 I think) while playing very decently with a racquet borrowed from Djokovic in the TMC? He was a last minute replacement for Roddick and when he arrived in Shanghai from Thailand, his racquets did not clear customs in time. He also borrowed Murray's socks and had to buy new contact lenses.
