I had a machine with the same type of tower mounts and when I suspected they might be creeping a bit I would remove them and give the contact surfaces a good cleaning with alcohol and a stiff brush to make sure there was nothing hiding in the textured surfaces. If you maintain that friction between the towers and the table you shouldn't need to forcefully tighten the towers (which will eventually strip the threads).

I could be wrong but it looks like there may be some surface rust or residue on one of the tower guide rails. Either way I'm certain it's something you'll be able to rectify.

Otherwise nice find!

This is what I'm using:

It's a second-hand Eagnas Hawk with a Wise tension head. I've replaced the clamps, rebuilt the locks in the clamp bases, and cold-welded the table to its axle to stop it from wobbling. I'd like a suspension mounting system and cam-lock clamp bases, but this one's working well enough that it's hard to justify upgrading.

If those aren't the remakes of the prostaff 85's then i'm pretty damn jealous... but i'm pretty sure they are.

Seekay, what area of Illinois are you stringing in?

I think the thing about this setup that I like the most is the Wise being set at 48lbs

I've got a couple originals and a couple remakes. The appropriate thread has a better photo and complete inventory.

I'm in Champaign, making good use of the U of I courts.

The racquet setup in your signature looks pretty sweet. I settled on BLX PS 90's with BHB7 @ 48lb, so not too far off.

Went and did a thorough cleaning of my machine, your assumption was correct...

There was only minimal rust on the screws on the tower guide rails, but some sort of substance (god only knows what) had built up on the tower guide rails. Alcohol and a good toothbrush did the trick....no more tower creep!

There is no way in Holland to get them. Only the showroom of Babolat got one mat and some racquet stands, but they took them from RG last year. I asked them several times. I also called the Prince rep. for the beast mat, but they also couldnt order some for us.

I had to take contact with the importer of Gamma in Germany to buy the mat and racquet stands. There is not other way to get some (or I don't know about that way). I was glad the guy was very polite to sell us some, because we don't deal in Gamma products and they are usually only for promotional use.

Finally found me an old Babs. As new, mint condition. Original owner had strung eight badminton racquets on it!?

Getting used to stringing on a mono-clamp. No problem, at all. But I would really like to find an two-clamp turn-table, I admit.

I'm going to save my money and get something more modern eventually. I'm up to $650 in savings now. After getting this constant pull machine, I don't want anything that doesn't have a constant pull and a good reputation for customer service, spare parts, etc.

How exactly does that work on the mains? Do you also need to use a floating clamp and/or a starting clamp?
