Ektelon Neos. Just pruchased it for $300.00. Other than a few minor rust spots, which will come off this weekend, the machine is in excellent condition. Had been stored in a garage for well over a year, so was fairly dirty, and needed to be calibrated. I've already calibrated the machine, and everything works smoothly.

^^^yeah, I got really lucky. I have been looking for one of these, and happened to go on craigs list. There was one for sale, and as luck would have it>>> in my area. Sent an email, and guy called me back same night. As you could imagine, he already had several interested buyers and was working out a deal with the first guy that had emailed him ( a week earlier), however, being that I was in the area, he didn't want to go thru the trouble of shipping it, so told me if I would come over the same night, and liked it>> It was mine. I literally jumped off the court, and drove down there.

I saw a picture of yours, and was curious about it. Poor man or not, if it strings consistently>> looks like a great machine. When did you get it????

KPS88, sooon to be strung on this bad boy!!!

I got mine last September at a garage sale listed on Craigslist.

Here's the thread on my experience:

http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showthread.php?t=219966

Even though I got the machine for $25, I invested in new clamps, calibrator, and starting clamp.

I can string consistently on it and it's a breeze!

^^^Majic Man!!!

Glad you approve. We still need to meet up. Perhaps this weekend. I'll give you a call.

I popped the Luxilon Rough today, so the frame got it's first string job. I got a little bit of help from, Panterka:

^^I first cleaned it with rubbing alcohol, including the railing sytem using a q-tip. The arm, and some of the other parts I did with a soft metal brush, and then with a rust remover (very little).

I then cleaned it again with alcohol.

The railiing system is really smooth, the clamps glide smoothly on the glide bar, tensioner is now running very smoothly on the track. machine is super sweet. took me about 30 minutes to string the frame, and I was in heaven because of the simplicity, and ease of use.

It really is a joy to string with. I string with the same machine at work. I like the two point mounting much more than the two point mounting on my SP Swing. I like the hold down system of the Neos much better than the screw down system.

Very nice find Drak!!!
With a little more elbow grease and a little spray paint that machine will be looking good in no time.

Yup, it really is a joy to use. Very simple, and produces great quality string jobs.

With respect to cleaning product, I have only ever used de-natured or rubbing alcohol--I have never had the need for anything else (and I have owned Ektelon/Prince stringers for many years). I don't think you will need any other sort of cleaner ever. Generally I use a soft cloth but occassionally I use a soft toothbrush, q-tips, pipe cleaners and a soaked shoestring for various parts (e.g., the pipe cleaners and the shoelace are particularly good for cleaning the linear grabber on the tension head). The key is to keep it clean all of the time and it will always work smoothly.

I have never had a rust problem (my machines have always been indoors and covered when not in use (btw think about getting a cover) but it sounds like what you did worked fine.

As for paint touchups--I have used black appliance paint (available at a hardware store) and it seems to have worked fine. Continued good luck with this excellent find.

^^Max Ply, many thanks for the suggestions. Good stuff.

The toothbrush, and shoe laces are excellent ideas. Will try those this weekend.
