Need to sell 1 racket. This is in excellent condition, grip size 4 5/8, and has the racket cover. Asking $60.00 plus shipping in USA. Had the racket for a year, but only played w/ it for about a month. It's been sitting idle at home, so might as well sell it.

Default Still Available?

I am very interested in your racquet. I wanted to ask about the strings:

What string, gauge and tension and also what condition would you say the strings are in?

Thanks a lot, Bob

Hi Bob, the racket was strung w/ Babolat Syntronic Brio, 17 gauge at approximately mid range for the tension. Don't remember off hand if that is 55 or 57 pounds. It would definitely have lost tension due to it's sitting around for a few months. Was not played w/ much after that string job since it was just a backup racket for me.

Let me know what you think, i'm willing to make a deal. The racket itself is in excellent condition.

Default Thanks

Thanks Bill, I am sorry it's taken me a few days to get back to you. I have been a little under the weather but I comin back finally and I have also really been trying to get clear on which racquet I want to try.

Your racquet definitely sounds like a great deal. As I am still having a little trouble deciding I wanted to ask if you would be interested in a trade? I have two ProKennex 5Gs...my current racquet...and I am really wanting to change racquets but from reading the specs and user posts in more detail it seems like the Gen II or the Slaz X-1 would be closer to the specs/playability that would likely be best for me.

However, if you would consider trading I would try the Gen I. My 5Gs are both in about 6-7 condition. One is newly strung last week with all brand Bow Brand 18 gauge gut at 64 lbs that I have only hit about 5 minutes with. It's strung in 2 piece as I thought I might restring with Hurricane in the crosses if I didn't like it. I actually kind of like it but not quite as much as what I have in my main racquet below:

The other a hybrid with ProHurricane 17 ga in the mains strung at 62 and NRG2 18 gauge strung at 64 in the crosses...this one has about 4 hours on it.

Both are 4 5/8, however the ProHurricane's grip is a little larger and that grip is torn where my index finger grips the forehand and probably needs replacement although it feels very comfortable for me that way so I haven't changed it.

If you were interested in trading for either one of the 5Gs how would giving you say $30 and we both just include shipping.

Thanks for considering this...also if you are not interested in trading I will continue to think about buying it outright though but I will probably demo the X-1 before and/or Gen II before deciding on anything.

Hope you are getting some great tennis in.

Best regards, Bob

Hi Bill, I apologize for this taking a while to get back to you. I wrote you back fairly quickly but for some reason it didn't get sent. I should have checked, I will do that in the future.

Anyway, thanks for your additional information. I have been leaning toward the Gen II and think I will probably demo that first as it appears to be a little better choice for me considering the specs and also the recommendation from NoBadMojo. However, I do have a couple of ProKennex 5Gs 4 5/8, my current racquet, if you would be interested in considering trading for one? They both are in about 6-7 condition. One is newly strung with 18 ga. Bow Brand gut, I have only hit with it for about 3 minutes, seriously. I wanted to see how gut feels but I like my other set-up better. I did have it strung in 2 piece at 64 lbs in case I thought I might hy**** with ProHurricane if I didn't like the all gut. The all gut wasn't bad, I just liked my hurricane hybrid better with hurricane 17 at 62 lbs in the mains and NXT2 18 at 66 in the crosses.

That's how my other (main) racket is set up but it has about 5 hours on it...still feels really fresh though. Also this racquet has a worn place/tear on the grip right where my finger goes for a western forehand. I kind of like how it feels so I never changed it.

I would be willing to trade for either one and definitely I would need to give you something for the difference. If you are interested, let me know what you think might be fair. If you are not interested, I still might get back to you after "demoing". If I felt the Gen II was too light or not quite it but close, I might go ahead and buy the Gen I from you if it's still available by then.

Oh and the reason I want to switch racquets is, although I just love the Prokennex 5G for virtually everything except my topspin forehand, I have decided that I need to change. I have tried everything to help improve my spin with this racquet but nothing works well enough for me. I have hit with the Yonex 500 and Diablo MPs and my reliable heavy topspin forehand was just right there, automatic. But I didn't like the other characteristics of those raccquets so I went with the 5G...I should have kept going as the topspin forehand is the most important part of my game and it's just not quite as good with the 5G. The 5G is like a dream in every other category for me so I just kept trying everything from stings, weight, tensions, swing pattern, but just couldn't get it quite right. When NoBadMojo said he experienced the same thing with the 5G and the Gen II solved that problem for him and really is similar to the 5G in the other areas, well then I decided to try it.

My email is bobdstrategy@yahoo.com in case you want to email me direct.

Thanks again for your great offer Bill and I hope you are getting some great tennis in this weekend.

Bob

I have been leaning toward the Gen II and think I will probably demo that first as it appears to be a little better choice for me the more I consider the specs and also the recommendation from NoBadMojo. It's lighter swingweight and closer specs to my current racquet (5G) than the Gen I really has my hoping I'll really like it. If my demo doesn't do it for me and I think I need a little heavier racquet I will write you back as you really have a great deal there.

Thanks again for your outstanding offer Bill and I hope you are getting some great tennis in this weekend.

Hi Bob, thanks for including your email in one of your posts. That classified section of the discussion board is way too slow for postings. I noticed my replies were taking up to 3 days to get posted.

email w/ details sent direct to you
