Default Do any pro's use a worm shock absorber?

JW

Every one is raving about them where I play, yet i can't think of a single pro in the top 50 who use them.

(waits for 30 posts about how shock absorbers only affect the sound)

I can't think of any pro who uses one, which is probably why you should.

Most pros do not need the things average players use to dampen the frame.
cortex, dampners etc. They have such good form and they are conditioned to play.
For example, when you hit ten balls you might hit three in the sweet spot and when they hit ten balls they might miss the sweet spot twice.
Feel is more an d control is more important to them than excessive vibration.

I never use shock absorbers, I think they hinder the way you play. Less feel for the ball when I use them (of course, I use stiff racquets, but still). I honestly don't understand why people use them. Anyone care to explain? Do you really need to reduce the shock that much?

It's a thing called personal preference, what you may like another will not. Samprass, Agassi, Nadal, Roddick, Djokovic and countless others use them as it feels more solid and thats what they like.

I just use a rubber band, it just mutes the annoying ping but leaves the feel.

I'll explain why I like them if you can explain how you think they "hinder" the way you play? They have zero impact on how someone plays tennis- its total personal preferance.

My "worm" just broke today at practice. The butt cap detached from the worm body and fluorescent paint squirted out all over my hand when I tried to put it back together.

Just sayin'.

Just got my Youtek Radical Pro restrung with some RPM Blast @ 60 lbs and had a bar shock absorber that i put on it. Bad idea. I usually use the little round one and last time i got my racquet strung, it was @ 55lbs, and because of lost tension, i went up. Well the it sounded dead, where as before it had a loud, beautiful sounding pop, my arm hurts, and i didnt feel like i could hit the sweet spot. Im getting rid of the dampener and waiting until the poundage drops to put my round one back on
