Default UT vs TU Today!

Gonna head out in a couple to see Texas against Tulsa. Should be a good match. Rooting for TU but I guess you guys are picking the Longhorns, right?

I'll report back.

Tulsa wins doubles! 2-1!

Wow! UT was cruising and it turned around in a hurry.

On to the singles.

Aw man, we dropped it.
The 13th-ranked Tulsa men's tennis team jumped out to a 3-2 lead but was unable to hold on, losing 4-3 to No. 2 Texas on Sunday afternoon at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

Tulsa used two gritty doubles performances to grab the early 1-0 lead. No. 4-ranked Arnau Brugues and Philip Stephens fought from a 5-4 deficit to defeat Ed Corrie and Kellen Damico, 8-6, in No. 1 singles. Tulsa's duo of Alberto Sottocorno and Ashley Watling went to extra frames to knock off Texas' Miguel Reyes Varela and Jon Wiegland, 9-7, in the No. 3 position.

Arnau Brugues, ranked No. 10 in the nation, defeated 31st-ranked Dimitar Kutrovsky, 6-4, 6-2, in No. 1 singles, and 92nd-ranked Philip Stephens won 7-5, 6-2, over 84th-ranked Olivier Sajous in the No. 3 slot to give Tulsa the 3-2 team advantage.

However, Victor Kolik couldn't get past Ed Corrie in No. 2 singles losing 5-7, 6-4, 1-6, and Ross Cunningham was unable to hold on against Josh Zavala in No. 6 singles in the final and decisive match of the day falling 7-6 (7), 3-6, 3-6.

Tulsa returns to action on January 24 to take on Oral Roberts and Lamar in a double-header at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

Yeah, that was a tough match, the #6 guy for UT, Josh Zavala is nails, look for him to win a lot of matches for the Longhorns this year.

I'll second this post... Sounds like somebody was watching it live. It would be awesome to get a live feed for some collegiate tennis.

Be sure to go watch my Virginia boys when they visit Austin on Sunday, March 15. Then you can tell us who has the best depth in the nation!

Don't you wish you still had the best players to ever play at UT over the last 40 years?

That's the nature of collegiate sports. Someone is always graduating. But those who return are one year older and better.

We will know a lot more after this weekend. We host Illinois on Friday and Notre Dame on Sunday.
