Default Reduce body fat

Hi. I'm 13 years old and I weigh 127 lbs. Although it isnt that heavy, about 27 lbs of it is body fat. How can I loose about 10-12 lbs of body fat in about two weeks?

You cannot lose body fat that quickly; and I'm sure that 27 pounds is not body fat. How tall are you?

If you truly want to work on getting fitter and being stronger (which is all you should be worrying about at your age and weight); then start a simple plan of eating well (no fast food); getting some cardiovascular exercise as well as a little weight workouts (nothing hard, or severe); you don't want to build great big muscles right now at your age; what you want to do is do light weights with increased repetition to strengthen you overall body and don't forget to do abdominal core workouts as well.

It would be good for you to get some guidance about a workout plan, so if you have that opportunity, even if it is talking to a coach at school or to the gym instructor, then do that.

127 shouldn't have a lot of body fat unless you're short. Depending on whether or not you are in the second half of 13 or first, this could mean you are going to be quite tall and that you haven't grown vertically to your body weight.

Talk to your family Dr., there are way too many factors at your age. Genetics, diet, activity level etc. Talk to your Dr., he / she is the best advise you can get.

Just the fact that you asked about losing 27 lbs. in 2 weeks says you need some help. Get your parents to take you for a medical exam and first determine your body fat percentage and make sure you are healthy. Then they can set you up with a local Crossfit or other kids training program.

Do it the right way, with medical supervison and a certified trainer.

I think I might of made a mistake in saying I have 27 lbs of body fat. I am pretty tall, about 5'5 and I am skinnier than most of my friends. I actually went to the doctor today because I have a cold and he told me to improve my diet because I eat a lot of bread. Ha ha TennisCoachFLA you probally think I'm some obesse kid or something! I assumed that my body fat was 27 lbs because I weigh 127 lbs. Take a look at my youtube video of competivley hitting. I'm a tall, perectly weighted 13 year old boy who wanted to know how to loose 10-12 lbs. Not 27 lbs. I don't need any "help". You need some help in reading TennisCoachFLA.

He didn't say 27 lbs in 2 weeks. He said 10 to 12.

Anyway - OP, if you increase on cardio and cut out the carbs you can probably do 5 to 6 lbs in 2 weeks , so if you set your goal at 10 lbs in 5 weeks you are more realistic.

Good luck

Yes, cardio is a fast paced workout that increases your heart rate and burns calories and fat.

Take your time, stick to it and your sure to meet your goals!!!!

Easy there young man, I misread your post, but was only trying to help.

The best form of cardio is high intensity intervals. Warm up for 3 minutes with an easy jog, sprint for 30 seconds, jog for a minute, sprint, etc.. Do that for 20 minutes for starters, work up to 30 minutes.

Sprint intervals are a much better way to get lean than just old fashion long runs. I bet you would rather be built like a sprinter than a cross country runner.

eat more leafy veggies so you can crap a little more. if you can get to a gym ride on the bike for a solid 45 minutes. as you ride alternate from higher resitance to lower and faster leg movement like a sprint to a lower past like a jog. this will cut down on some fat in the leg and core area. make sure you don't cut carbs out of your meals b/c thats what your getting your energy from but i think you already know that.

Eating celery is good because it takes more calories to digest than it provides.

...but provides relatively little nutritive value. It has some vitamin content, but is relatively high in sodium

There's an old adage that still holds true, when you feel hungry between meals, drink a glass of water. If you're still hungry 30 minutes later, eat something healthy*. If not, you were thirsty, not hungry.

Healthy does not mean white bread, chips, crackers, soda (even diet*), etc. Healthy means maybe a piece of fruit, a small handful of nuts, some veggies, etc.

Lots of decent ideas, with the exception of Mighty Manfred's (although I have to admit, it made me laugh out loud pretty hard...).

I, however, also have to wonder at your notion of needing to lose weight. With the height, age and weight you've provided, your BMI would be estimated at 21.1%, not 27%. For a 13-year old boy, that's a healthy percentage of body fat. Dropping 10-12 pounds, as you've stated is your desire, would only mean a drop of about 2% on your BMI (5'5" and 115 lbs is an estimated 19.1% body fat for a 13 year old boy...).

BMI measurements can also be significantly wrong. For example, my own BMI is around 32, but my actual body fat percentage is around 20. That's because muscle weighs more than fat. Regardless, it doesn't sound like a weight that should cause any concern whatsoever. Get in good cardiovascular shape and whatever excess fat you may have will probably drop away anyway.

BTW - if you do end up losing 10 to 12 pounds in two weeks, you've probably succeeded mostly in losing water weight - in which case you've only succeeded in dehydrating yourself.

If you're really bound and determined to lose this weight, set yourself a longer goal time and don't set a target weight (especially since you'll probably be growing taller), set yourself a target BMI.

Better yet set a real body fat % goal - get measured by a professional to determine your real percentage of body fat - and work towards attaining that goal. It ain't cheap to have done, but even measurements done with calipers are more accurate than the BMI charts.

Do HIIT-jog for a minute than sprint for half a minute. Do that for an hour a day, that's a few pounds right there. Considering your pretty tall, much taller than I am and we are about the same age but I'm about 50 pounds lighter and 5 inches shorter, you probably could benefit just from interval training like TenniscoachFLA and eating better.

Any ideas on gaining weight. I am 75 lbs, 13 years old, and 5'2. I eat like a pig, healthy and a little junk, and have a freakishly high metabolism. BTW i haven't started growing yet.
