Default Babolat Vs Wilson (nadal Vs Federer)

Now that Nadal has won the AO there has been clearly a changing of the guard.

Will that translte also to racquet sales? Will Babolat the new kid on the block finally out sell wilson?

It wont. Wilson is and always will produce classy racquets..Old school and traditional--the ones who use them seem to be classy as well (federer)

I would pay money out of pocket to see Nadal playing with the kblade or any sort of wilson racket!

first of all for there to be a change in the guard, federer would have to have been thrashed and that did not happen, people need to give him a break. the sport still means so much to him, and you could see that at the end. as for racket sales i would also say no, wilson sells more player sticks that babolat, babolat sells more tweener sticks that wilson. wilson have the history of the 6.1 lines etc

Babolat still has to have time in to build a better reputation for their sticks. Wilson has been around forever while Babolat is still kind of a newby in the field.

Seems unlikely. Wilson used by womens' singles and doubles champions, and formerly used by the mens doubles champions when they played some of their best tennis. Wilson also used last year by mens' singles champ at AO. Wilson still seems to have the best of it from a larger number of players.

Their sales will go up in club players and lower level/lower skilled players because most if not all of their racquets allow you to be very hamfisted but still be very effective and consistant.
I know for a fact that with an areopro cortex and a half arsey player= somewhat difficult to beat.
And the younger kids like those crazy weird painschemes that only babolat seems to have.
I dont think their sales will go up from nadal's wins that much because the people who really follow tennis and such dont like babolat... but again the younger crowd does love their stuff.
Tennis is no longer the "club" sport it is now alot more standardized and widespread... which is good for the sport obviously, but in result different standards are applied when buying a racquet.
Now my post doesn't make sense to even me.

wilson is better at this time for club players and babolat is catching up but Roddick pure drive is not selling like hot cake and Nadal APD is steady sell.

They need better player's racquet (have couple can't compare to wilson K90 or Pete 8 to take people away from wilson

I think that babolat is actually the most popular racquet among the pros.

No, they won't. I am surprised they are diversified as much as they are, but unless they decide to mass-market to places like Wal*Mart and the such, Wilson, Head, et al. will always have the market share.

The only thing is, is that Nadal isn't a "newby" of any sort. He's been on tour since he was 16 (and won his first pro match at 15). 6 years going on 7 doesn't fit my definition of "newby" or anything with the word "new" in it, for that matter.

Again, flat out wrong. Out of the top 100, only about 8 or so players use Babolat sticks, as compared to the 20 or so who are signed with Wilson and the 20 or so that are signed by Head. Out of the top 100, the only companies that have less representation of Babolat are the real big names, the big boys such as Dunlop, Fischer, and Technifibre. Big names alright.

If you mean only by strings, you could be somewhat correct, as VS Team is one of the most popular strings on tour. Unfortunately for your argument, Wilson's Luxilon Big Banger series is used quite a bit more and is generally more popular with players on tour...

I don't know about you guys, but lately when I practice after school, the kids who go to the clinic taught by our school's jv coach, all seem to use Babolat racquets, including his kids (well it looks that way, they all wear the same hat).

luckily for wilson, Serena Williams (plays with a Wilson racquet) beat Dinara Safina (plays with a Babolat racquet)

so wilson lost to babolat in the men's singles final but they won in the women's singles final

Compared to Fed he is a newby...he is only 22 years old. People forget that because already has won 6 grand slams.

No one cares about the top 100.....its the top 10 that counts......and I think Babolat wins .

I doubt Babolat will outsell Wilson on the whole. Wilson has been out so much longer in the racket game. I do think though that the Aeropro Drive will outsell the K90. I'm 28 and i want to try the Aeropro again even though i've demoed it on 3 different occassions and hated it each time. lol. So for the younger kids who dont but there own stuff they'll probably just say to their parents "I want the one Nadal uses." without demoing. Advertising, you gotta love it!!!
