Yeah Robson beat Melanie Oudin in straights 2 and 3.

Meanwhile Petra needed 3 sets to get past Schiavone. I'm setting the DVR for the Robson Kvitova match. I imagine it will be highly entertaining. I picked Robson in my bracket to pull the upset. She seems like she's more consistent than Petra, and Petra really made a ton of errors yesterday against Frannie.

I'll be updating after the AO. I'm still baffled by Petrova's loss, especially after how she ended 2012 on a high note. Then again her list of WTF losses is limitless.

Hard to coach when daddy is undermining his/her efforts at every possible moment. Piotr treats his daughter as a cash cow, it seems. And that's despite the fact that Karolina is supposed to be the boss in this business relationship. Sanchez complained that his role was relegated to that of a consultant in the brief time he worked with her. Has Piotr ever lost any real control in this arrangement?

Team Wozniacki panicked and is now trying to revert to a form without addressing her weaknesses and ignoring the fact that many have improved and surpassed her. It's going to be a struggle either way (learning something new to complement her game vs trying to go back to being a defensive backboard whose outcome is on her opponent's racquet), so why not push ahead?

If Karolina wants to step forward, she needs to take notes from what Radwanska/Sharapova/Li did. Seek out a quality coach of HER own choosing, listen to him/her and receive/provide feedback, and bust her butt off to achieve. I don't like Wozniacki, but she is a solid player. Is it enough to win a a major? I would say no, but if Schiavone/Li/Stosur could do it, heck it's possible.

How should I phrase Stosur's return to the thread? That match defined "agony of defeat".

Up 5-2, up 2 breaks, 2 points away from victory..... only to have Zheng win the last 5 games, topped off with a DF on match point...... I really feel for the Sammy supporters. I like both Stosur and Zheng, but even I didn't want the match to end like that.

"Sammy Syndrome" is so hard to overcome... Not everyone can be as calm, resilient, and fight to the end like Zheng did today. Still even with that I feel Stosur did just a bit more to lose it.
