Default ProStaff 6.0 graphics

I'd move this from main Racquets forum if I knew how:

Apologies if this has been discussed, but the short string makes it hard to search:

In regard to the PS 6.0 85 and 95:

I've noticed on the face of the throat sometimes it says "ProStaff 6.0" and sometimes just "ProStaff" - any important distinction?

As long as the inside of the throat says 6.0, that's what it is, right?

TIA,
fd

Hi. I've included a post from my PS85 discussion thread:

http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showp...1&postcount=46

The difference really (I'm assuming that you're talking only about Chinese made PS85s) is that one - without 6.0 - was made earlier than the ones with it. There are some other identifiers as well....but comparing the two I think it's mostly just a graphics thing. Both are good frames if you like the Chinese PS85.

Kal-El 34 - ah, the widebody Pro Staff 6.0.

The source of confusion for some.

That was back when Wilson was really selling their racket line stressing their 'si' indicators - "swing index" or "stiffness index" as some people like to call it. I think officially it was the former.

Taiwanese made frames with the aerodynamic, thick cross-section, dual taper beam design. The frames came in 95 and 110 sq. in. headsizes.

This does fit into the "PS85" lineage in that Wilson made a Wilson Pro Staff midsize frame (classic box beamed) with this paint scheme. It was the first Pete Sampras signature frame (like the kPS88 today). I think he sported it for a couple of grass court tournaments in '92 or '93 (I hope someone chimes in on this). He never made the switch, further cementing the St. Vincent Pro Staff Midsize allure.

I consider these one of the rarest of the PS85s. I've only seen pictures of three of these since I've been kinda picking around for frames in the last few years. Two on e-bay. I saw a TTW member had one that he/she included in the racket picture thread.

The Taiwanese green PS85s, the DB, the 2000 hyperccarbon special edition......interesting additions to the Wilson PS85 graphics lineage.

The dual taper beam widebody 95 and 110 Pro Staff 6.0s were regular production frames.

Relatively rare, but not desireable from a collecting standpoint.

Nothing like the PS85 with the corresponding cosmetics.
