i know this goes over your budget...but Luxilon Big Banger Ace 18 in the mains (54 lbs. $6.50 for half set -- $5.83 per half set in reel form) and I tried the cheap Gaucho Gut 16 Gauge (around $7 for a half set) in the crosses at 56 lbs...WOW! this is the first time i've tried natural gut in the crosses and it makes a big difference in this frame...gives you that extra pop / ball pocketing / feel and comfort...in this racquet for me, it's string perfection...i'm really amazed how nice it is...

Agreed.
I'm using either Cyberflash or Unique Big Hitter grey in a full bed on mine, and it's very nice - plenty of pop when needed, decent (but not fantastic feel), and lots of bite.

I used Problend in a PSL and it's a great setup. A lot of the stiffness of the problend is offset by the soft nature of the psl and I was pretty shocked really. Great spin and power and it's reasonably priced.

I owned and played for awhile last fall with the GT version.
However, last spring, I had an extended demo with the non Gt version strung with Problend at 62. I was expecting it to be horrible and have no feel but it was quite nice. Great feel and great stick but in the end, just not a good fit for me; I couldn't ever come to grips with the balance-even after adding lead. I spent 18 months with the PST and much preferred the heft of that one

I have experimented a bit and now I have found a good setup for me. An overgrip and a dampener and 12 grams of lead. 8 at 3 and 9 and 4 in the trapdoor. It is now very stable with decent power and yet very very controlled. Weighs in at 354 grams with a good HL balance. Perfect!!

Forehand: I found it to have more plow compared to the youtek but not as forgiving and would drop some balls short every now and then. I play with a semi-western forehand with an open stance and mild topspin. 1HBH: For sure I enjoyed hitting my backhand a lot more with this frame simply because it has more mass behind it and the thin 19mm beam plus the smaller head size it just works better when hit well, most of my shots would stay in and with really nice depth. My backhand is hit with extreme eastern again with mild topspin and as the forehand I flatten them out when needed to hit a winner etc. Serve: No question here the PSL GT again wins this category, the 1st set I was struggling with the serve a bit but boy when it started coming in it was just thawp after thwap, most of all my 2nd serve was spot on from start to finish I was hitting my spots with it and ran into about 2 double faults out of 3 sets. Volley: Not much of a volley player yet, I would like to develope it more maybe this summer so I don't have any comments in this category but most poeple say this is a great racquet at net and I am sure it is so. Currently trying to move some of my other racquets out and will be picking up a 2nd one of these, planning on stringing one with Prince Problend 16 (Kevlar setup) @ 60 pounds and the other with Babolat Pro Hurricane Tour 16 @ 60 pounds

How does the PSL (GT or non-GT) perform on clay, as opposed to faster surfaces like carpet or hardcourt?

Hi, i'm a brand new user of the PSL, and i'm very glad of it
I come frome a dunlop Aerogel200, pretty much the same but less HL balance. This stick is amazing ! Very manoeuverable, and still very good plowthrough on groundstrokes and volleys, with a great accuracy on everything, touch shots included. Maybe not too much power on serves though, this is true... And the leather grip is definitely a + Talking about sensations, with a "soft control-oriented" 1.25 copoly stringed @47-45, it's just butter, as some say : a great comfort, good power when I ask for it, easier defensive shots too. I didn't have a good feeling with the original multi @55lbs, which was a bit old i guess, and didn't feel smooth at all. All in all, by far my new favorite stick. |

Oh, and I just plaied on clay last week ! I dt really know how the surface can change the way a stick behave lol, i guess it changes the way you play with it !
But to answer you anyway, as the frame is very versatile, I could play rallies from the back, and vary the game to short angles (very spin firendly) and net play pretty easily. great feeling |

OK, I just bought two first-gen PSLs and I'm hoping to get them early next week. So I guess this is a good time to join this Support Group.

pure storm tour has heft, weight and string pattern for spin & heavy balls. I think most of the poster has put some lead on ltd to make it heavy and less headlight (not necessary but little less head light) If you put leather grip on pure storm tour it becomes perfect without any lead. (345 strung leather+overgrip+ dampener & 8 point head light) |

I'm considering getting myself a couple of used PSLs and requested to see pics. When I took a look at the pics, the two head sizes seemed a little different:
Now, I have no doubt that they're real, but it just seems odd. Has anybody here experienced their head shapes changing due to tighter tensions or anything? Could it be the camera angle? |

So now I'm looking for more PSLtd.s, but Tennis-warehouse hasn't got any in my grip size. Does anyone know if they would build the grip up for me?
