I've become fascinated with diagonal stringing recently and need some info on this racquet (or diagonal stringing, in general)
There seems to be a number of advantages to diagonally strung racquets... lack of significant string movement, extended string life and additional topspin generation. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Now, the questions: I'm wondering what additional advantages/disadvantages exist? How are the frame forces different while stringing and after the stick is strung and released from the machine? What about recommended tension? Is a diagonally strung stringbed a bit looser than a conventional stringbed? (It seems it could be since the string movement isn't a factor like a conventional frame) Has anyone string a conventional racquet with the diagonal pattern? Is this practice dangerous since the frame isn't designed for a diagonal pattern? How'd you determine the grommet to grommet pattern? - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - If anyone has a Davis Topspin they'd like to part with... please let me know. Will pay or trade. Thanks for all input! ![]() |

I believe that diagonally strung racquets are also easier on the arm.

I am sure you can test out diagonal string patterns on a cheap racket first to see if it works. or a warped racket to correct it.

pls post diagonal patterns if you find them. I'd like to try some on my 85's
![]() I played madraqs for quite some time...the star shaped string pattern didn't produce extra spin, it did however give the stringbed an excellent dampened and even touch ![]() the gut strings on my Keubler are about to go, can't wait to finally test drive it this week... |

I've not had the chance to play with a 'Diagonal'.
Is it true what they say about spin generation, string movement and string wear? |

i'll test drive it this week and let you know, can't wait to experiment with some diagonal and macro patterns. I hope the strings and frames hold up to the ridiculously high macro tension, would also love to test drive a spaghetti strung racquet and see what the gravy potential is, considering history has so cemented spaghetti strings effectiveness, even at top levels of the game, it interests the plaz

Völkl made diagonally-strung versions of a couple of its frames in the mid to late 80's; I believe Hansjörg Schwaier used a diagonally-strung Völkl on the ATP tour for a while...

No, Bud; I've always preferred equipment that did not promote extra topspin on its own merits - I like to hit a fairly flat forehand and backhand, and I assumed a "diagonal" would work against me in that regard.
Actually, the equipment I have tended to like and use would seem to offer little by way of built-in help to find things like Power, Spin, etc.

It was on one of my posts.
I belive it was Jack & Coke who strung one up so it can be done. I have 3 Power Angles at home. They do produce more spin(AT LOW SPEEDS) at high speed i cant seem to tell. Strings do last longer. It is supposed to be easier on the arm. I had a hit with the 98 model Too light!! so no plow through effect The 115 fly the ball. Its worth doing IMO |
