Default How many Head Elektras?

Just a question for all you Head experts...How many Elektra/Elektra Pros were there? I've seen the sort of whiteish/greenish one with the CAP bumper. Was there also one that was kind of grayish/purpleish?

Yes there were Two Elektra Pro tennis racquet. The first was a white and light sea foam green color that was a 19mm straight beam that came out in 1988. It was a short lived because of the widebody craze at the time.

The next was the Elektra Pro 600 with the silver and white grommets that came out in 1989. It had Head's Nodal system with the double power wedge.

There also two Elite Pro. The original from 1988 that was a metallic green with white grommets that was from the same mold as the original Elektra Pro. The second Elite Pro that came out in 1989 was from the same mold as the second Elektra Pro with nodal system and the double power wedge design.

What about the Elektra Master - how different was that from the Pro?

anytime you see master it means 102sq. in, wheras pro is 89.5 square inches, e.g. "prestige pro" "elektra pro" edge 81, pro 89.5 and master 102 were the three primary sizes in this series.

OK - a bit like the Prince line of, for instance, Bronze Ace and Bronze Limited - the Limited being the OS version? Both of which I happen to have and both play very well.

exactly, only one would almost have to have been an expert back then to understand the head distinctions, though, wheras a Child could understand the basic Prince sizes. Head only recently gave into the liquidmetal, microgel, nanotech bull*****. Their frames used to be designed purely for looks and performance. The performance aspects were extemely thoughtful and professional, and explored every need of a player, in a very scientific genuinely meticulous obsessive Euorpean genius kind of way...

nowadays these frames are prized for their serious professional performance, exceptional feel, and asss kicking graphics (sorry Virginia, that's a technical term we "experts" like to use, I include it strictly for scholarly research purposes)

vsbabolat,

The racket as shown seems unused. Are you just collecting it?

When Head introduced their line up of widebody rqts they started to use the designations 600, 660 and 720. They were also known as 'Pro', "Master' and 'Director'. They tended to off their rqts usually in 2 sizes and sometimes all three.

As well as the 2nd edition of the Elektra, there was also an Elite. The original Elite Pro was green, while the 2nd edition was similar to the Elektra being more white-ish

Regards

Paul

when I see head straying from the constant beam and using the power wedge I am reminded of the protagonists reaction during this poignant scene. "Noooooooooo!!!!"

I never refuse a polite request but the "golden child" is not photogenic. It comes from some sort of ancient burial ground or something. I asked the original owner for pics and they barely came out. When I tried to photo it the same thing happened, 19 out of 20 shots would not come out. In speaking with the golden child it tells me that it misses it's former owner and wishes to see the court again, I feel its pain and will honor this request. Now that you've had a tutorial on traditional thinking here's a quick one about trek fonts!:

the one on top is not a trek font. The two on bottom are trk font 600's. Trek font are the original buttery, made in Austria pro tools.

^^^
I have Prestige Classic 600 like the one on top that is not "Star Trek" Font that has Made in Austria written just above the grip collar

Oh and don't worry about the "Designed in Austria" Prestige Classic, Prestige Tour, or Classic Mid, amd Midplus. They were all manufactured in Kennelbach, Austria and finished in Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic.
