I was walking around checking out different matches... sometimes sitting on the westside bleachers .. be very careful with those high school matches... they will cause you to have a burn out right before the sectionals and big summer events.. and you'll feel spent for the whole summer.. totally not worth it if you're a serious tournament player... and you seem to play a lot of week end and National tournaments too ... all may be too much and you'll feel stale for big matches ...

between high school 230-5 4 times per week, after highschool 5-630ish 2 times a week and weekends. on the busiest month id say 20 hours per week when there is no tournament. when i have a tourny ill take a day off of high school toward the end of the week and play maybe an hour just to keep some timing but give my body some rest. im taking today and tomorrow off because i dont have a tourny for 2 weeks

most high schooers are having NOW about 2 - 3 team matches per week .. so if you're playing singles that's 9 sets plus 2 hours of practice on non-game days... and for most part, all high school tennis programs sucks because the coach doesn't know didly crap about real tennis,so a tournament player has to endure that mentality .. I'm seeing more and more kids who play tournament tennis ,not participate in high school tennis.. the good high programs will give a lot of slack to tournament players, but usually the P.E. coaches are a real "richard"

Wow do you think thats the average players time here in SoCal "tourny players" like your self?? we have been discussing turning up Deits time on court up by a couple hrs! i kind thought players were putting in more time then us on average but didnt think we were being doubled and that is alot for any player especially going to school.

gotch - ya as for high school not in the works Deit wants to try to make it in pro tennis he knows the levels just keep going up so he will have to have all the edge he can get , he does want to be a marine bioligist so his pick on college are SC, Florida gators, or hawaii that will be the back up plan or vise versa . BTW what is your choices on college and career

college i'd like to go ivy i have good grades just gotta do good on SAT's plus tennis will help. i want to go to a good academic school. my ultimate goal is to be CEO of a fortune 500 company but that will obviously take alot of hard work individually. the thing about tennis is it helps alot with life lessons. it teaches you independently because ur the only one its not a team sport. it teaches you to work hard on ur own because no one on a team can save u and its the same in the business world.

see i disagree. i was SHOCKED at the # of good ppl playing high school tennis this year. Spencer Simon, McCAll, Giron, McMorrow, D Lin, JW, Kehrer, Jamin Ball from Norcal W/D from Spring Nationals consolation to play high school tennis, J Huang, Harrison Richmond, Reo Asami, Daniel Hoffman (#1 18s in Norcal). the list goes on and on. O and SoCal I have a good Spencer Simon incident again: First of he lost to Billy kenny 8-5 of Waccamaw High in South Carolina. Then lost to Jamin Ball of Menlo in Norcal 8-3. (I lost to those same two 8-5 and 8-1.) So Simon and Billy Grokenberger were playing Dan Hoffman and Jamin Ball in doubles and Hoffman, who hooked me and my partner also, hooks them on match point which ties it up for Menlo. Grokenberger is in disbelief that they called it out. meanwhile, Ball and Hoffman are waiting at the net with there hands out waiting to shake hands. BG and SS refuse to shake their hands. SS says "You know what its cool" slaps both their hands acts like he's gunna go to his bag and leave, turns around, points at Hoffman and says "**** you" then smashes his racket against a poll, it breaks, and yells "f'in hooks" Classy guy

Actually I said the good programs leave alot of slack for tournament players.. there are a bunch of schools that have knowledgable coaches ,but on the majority, most high school tennis coaches have know clue about tournament tennis, thus tons of the tournament players start then quit high school tennis, and just focuses on the weekend tennis..
and about S.Simon,I heard he was academic in-eligable for high school tennis.. a lot of people says he's changed for the worse... acts like a "richard" and pretends to be a gangster .. LOL crazy *** white boy gangster with a tennis racket.. this is what I see all the time with these academy kids, they all think that everyone is cheating them and cannot take reality when someone calls a ball out.. they think every ball they hit is magic and has to be in or something..
