Federer is playing as poorly as Nadal will be playing in two years time. He should take a long vacation in Siberia.

Rafa won't ever have technical faults in his game, and he will play great tennis well past:
THIRTY

These top players never *develop* technical faults. They just get a ste slower which affect there shot making and manifests itself as technical flaw to spectators.
Let him slow down and lose a step (happens to all), then we will see.

Roger still get 350 points or so which is a step up from what he won last year at iW. Sure Fed is going for the slams record which I'm sure he'll get, but as a finalist in most of them, the point difference if he wins them will not get him the no.1 spot back, unless Rafa has a bad run.

It's like the tennis Gods conspired to make Federer's career as heartbreaking as possible, he won 12 slams and then the tennis Gods said "Fed doesn't have any more slams left in him but let's make Murray choke so Fed gets within ONE slam of Pete's record and then we'll make it so Rafa never lets him tie:
The
Record"

Mark my words TheRafa. Fed will equal that record and break it. Setting the benchmark for Rafa.

Nah...Fed's style can hold his career until 30+. Can't say the same for Nadal though.

Default Should Federer retire now just like Henin did?

I think Fed want's to retire so bad after his recent results but the only thing that keep's him alive is that 15 GS titles...but I think he shoud retire at the and of this year if he stays on 13...
Henin did the right thing - she retired when she started to sink...

That is a good idea, because Nadal is going to win 15 Slams and become the GOAT in any case.

I think Fed should retire at the end of this year when he has his 14 or 15 slams. Not that I want that, but it's fair on Mirka and kid. Who wants to be lugged around all the time. Not very stable for the Fedlite.

Fed will never win another slam so why keep playing? Retire now.

You sure Henin did the right thing? Except for the Williams sisters the rest of the Top WTA are really lousy... Safina had her streak but it ended, she's basically falling apart. I think Henin would be easily Top 3 or at least Top 5 if she returned.

He's still in his 20's, it's kind of ridiculous to retire then. If not for the fact you are losing, it's the fact that you're still young and love the game. Who'd want to leave?

As long as he's having fun and getting paid for it, it's a great job. Doesn't look like he's having much fun, lately, though.

I think the US Open and Wimbledon can be won by Federer IF Nadal and Murray crash out earlier... Roger can play really good just not with everyone... he chokes up when he's playing Rafa. Rafa doesn't have to be in tip top shape to beat him because of that. However Nalby showed that other players can pose a threat... it comes down to one thing though... can Nadal survive through a flawless game of his opponent and when the enemy is tired just reverse the situation... he did it with Nalbandian which I think is worth high praises.

Where Nadal fails Murray will pick up. This year is the year of Nadal and Murray.

Yes, but now people remember her as one of the best ever...and look what Hingis did with her comeback.

roger just texted me. he said that he's really up in the air about what he should do career-wise. he has talked to mirka about his future. he has chatted with his mum and dad. he has consulted several tarot card readers, his favorite astrologer, a psychic "to the stars", and a man who lives on his block that reads tea leaves.

but he has assured me that he will make no major life-altering decisions (such as when he should retire) until his pals at ttw put up a poll and tell him what to do. so keep up the good work.

Im a Nadal fan... and would get bored when Federer was dominating.... but I assure all of you that Federer will win at least one more GS; whats wrong with everyone??? All of a sudden loosing is not allowed for Federer? Everyone got spoiled with his 04 season, I think......... the competition is tougher now, but by no means is he over.
He's got 5 more years of great tennis, just dont expect him to clean every season like before, thank goodness for such a tough top 5 group these days.

Last summer, to a journalist who asked him what he thought about retiring on top, Federer answered "you're killing me with your question", pretty much his answer to everything these days...
