Default New Murray racquet news.

I don't know if it is known or talked about much, but Andy Murray is going to have a new racquet after the Miami Masters 1000. The racquet will be available in June. This is according to a So. Cal. Head rep. I have nothing to substantiate these claims, so let the nay-saying begin if it must.

The Murray racquet is like a faded orange blending into white color, not a box beam, and somewhat heavy but I don't have the exact weight. I was talking to the rep casually at my local tennis retailer so I didn't make much effort to write anything down or snap pics (probably would have seemed strange anyway).

She also had the Djokovic racquets as well as 3 new bags including a Djokovic signature bag. The Djokovic racquet is pretty cool mostly all white with leather grip and 11.8 oz unstrung, according to her. I also saw a few variations of the Djokovic racquets that were designated for different play styles or abilities. I did not handle them but I noticed they don't have leather grips, and say something like "Junior" or something like that at the top of the hoop.

I'm sorry I didn't get pics or anything, it didn't occur to me until I left for home that I could relay some of the info on these boards. I was there primarily to buy some string and when the owner didn't have what I was looking for this time, she was sure to ask if I had tried a variety of different Head string products, LOL. She was a nice lady, but I didn't catch her name. She said she was in Miami last weekend though and had a meeting which included Djokovic, although I have no idea what it was about.

Hope this helps someone.

P.S. I went through 2 pages of threads and didn't see anything Murray related. I also didn't know he was getting a new racquet. Sorry if this is old news.

Thanks for the info mate...

yeah I think the word is that Murray will switch to the new racket (or to the new pj) which is called the youtek or something???

it's covered in another thread which also has pics of the new Radical line...that's presumably the racket that Murray will use (or seem to use if it's just a pj)

As for Djokovic's racket...I previously started a thread earlier in the year showing pics of his racket in Australia...

subsequently someone else posted a thread recently on the specs of the Speed Pro line (I think that's what it's called).

Looks like we are all spoilt for choice if we do intend to get a new Head stick!

I see Murray using a PJ just because he's playing the best tennis of his career with his racquet.

It's not like he will really be using a new racquet, but rather Head will be making a new racquet with supposed new and innovative technologies that they claim Murray uses in order to sell more racquets. He will continue to use whatever older model he is currently using, but will just have the new model's paint job continuesly updated onto it. I get so tired of hearing about these amazing new technologies that do the exact same thing. They are all just schemes to continue to sell racquets once their other ones become old news (like 6 months old, if even). Sigh.

Again I apologize, I am not a Head guy, and I didn't think to ask very detailed questions.

Meh, kinda disappointed with the new Radical...it looks similar to the Flexpoint version.

Yup. I have seen the full size image and you can see the criss-crossing in the black part when zoomed in. Yeah it's cool. This picture is the Youtek Radical MP, the 'Murray' is the Youtek Radical Pro, WITH leather grip.

Sweet! I feel somewhat vindicated. Thanks.

Actually that is not the "Murray". I am quite sure Murray still uses an older Head model racquet but just has it painted to look like the new one. Many of the pros do this because they do not want to stop using the racquet that they used in order to do so well, so instead they paint the old models that the pros actually use with the new model's graphics in order to sell more of the racquets. There are a few threads on this I believe.
