Yes, they pre-stretch their strings. The P2 is pre-stretched.

Hmmm.....

Does this mean that if I bring my racquet and some Kirschbaum Pro 2 to a racquet stringer who maybe isn't so sharp and on the ball, he might try to pre-stretch something that's already pre-stretched, and hence make the strings "looser" than they normally would've been?

Pardon the question, I'm sure it sounds pretty naive...I don't know anything about stretching string. It's just that I just got my racquet restrung at a "department store" type of place (yes, I know, I'd rather go elsewhere, but I live in the sticks out here), and asked them to do the exact same tension I got last time at a different place....but the string sure felt loose today when I played with it for the first time. Not the same as last time at all. So I'm wondering if this pre-stretching might have something to do with it.

pre stretching makes it hold tension better. also, it couldve been the machine, crank mahcines tend to be looser than electric because it is not constant pull... and was it the same string and gauge?

Same string, different gauge...I went from 17 to 17L. No idea what machine they used in this case. It's quite a dramatic difference in feel, considering it's supposed to be the same tension as last time.

Thinner gauge means more power and softer therefore more flexible string bed. for example, there is a big difference between topspin cyberflash 16 and 17.

the stiffness rating for babolat pro hurricane tour 16 is 270 lbs/in
the stiffness rating for babolat pro hurricane tour 17 is 256 lbs/in
