Default International Tennis Centre, Las Vegas

Hi Guys,

My name is Charles and I'm here to give a formal introduction to the International Tennis Centre, Las Vegas. I know that we have had a few of our guests post up reviews and experiences here on this board and I would just like to create a thread that everyone can reference in regards to our facility.

First of all, my family purchased the facility last summer, final construction was completed during winter '08. The building itself is an enclosed steel structure with a large glass front, roughly 90,000 square feet under roof. We have eight deco-turf II courts, all of which are indoor. Our lighting is in the 130 lumen range, which is broadcast quality. (most facilities of this type offer between 60-80 lumen lighting). Our facility is climate controlled using heating and air conditioning, not evaporative cooling. We have a great mezzanine walkway system which is perfect for viewing the court activity below. In the rear of the building we have some beautifully finished locker and restrooms, along with 2 large (2500 sq ft) function / meeting rooms up stairs.

We are located about 10 minutes from Mandalay Bay (south end of the "strip") and about 15 minutes from Encore (north end of the "strip") right next to the east side of McCarran Airport.

We offer complimentary transportation to and from your strip hotel, we have several Cadillac Escalades that we use for this service.

I will include some photos and a link to our website, please feel free to ask any questions here in this thread.

Thank you all for your interest in ITC, we hope to see you here in Las Vegas very soon!

Sincerely,

Charles Ahearn

Charles,

Thanks for posting here and great facility. I've been a fan and been looking forward to playing there soon - I live in the Los Angeles area. I actually have been in touch with Chris Ojakian up there about setting up a special Tennis Warehouse Forum members event up there very soon. I'd love to have your help in putting this together and I know a lot of us out here would love to be involved and have a great tennis vacation in Sin City. Feel free to email me direct or have Chris work with me and we'll finish setting the even up.

How often does Andre actually hit these days you think?

Andre and Steffi stop in at least once or twice a week.

That picture was taken while he was playing in with Verdasco last winter, we don't often go on the courts and take photos but Andre is very gracious when we ask.

Hi Charles, thanks for introducing yourself and telling us about the facility. I am a local 5.0 player here in Las Vegas and had a couple of opportunities to hit at the facility a few years back when it first originally opened. I know your team has made a lot of improvements to the facility and the courts/lighting are top-notch. I was wondering if you have any plans for anything catering to local players, such as mixers, leagues, discounted "walk-on" rates, etc. I work very close to your facility and would be very interested in these types of things if they were available.

Thanks in advance for any info you can provide!

Charles, thanks for the info. Like DNS, I live in LA - but have a house in Vegas and come up often - have been looking for a place to hit.

The pics of FV and AA hitting and the news about the pros who've trained there are nice - but your website is lacking real info about the club - e.g. how much is it to hit for an hr with one of your pros; hrs of operation, membership info for locals and people like me who are frequent visitors, etc.

The music that comes on is just annoying - that's fine on MySpace - but not a tennis club site.

Thanks for the feedback! To answer a couple of questions:

We don't keep pricing information on the website because we have two seperate pricing schedules, one for locals and one for resort guests, we had complaints early on that it was getting confusing so we just ask that you give us a call so that we can explain everything in detail to you via telephone.

Our hours of operation are 8am to 8pm 7 days a week, the facility is also available 24 hours a day by appointment. We hope to reach a level of activity that allows us to stay open 24 hours a day in the near future.

The music you are hearing at the news page is coming from a Fox News clip further down the feed, on some browsers it auto starts when you land on that page. I apologize for the confusion and will have that straightened out ASAP.

Thanks again for your feedback and please don't hesitate to give us a call any time or just drop by and enjoy the place!

Hi there!

We have some programs currently running for locals, give us a call or just stop in and I would be happy to give you a tour of the facility and plenty of information and materials about all of our offerings for locals. We also have a summer membership and a few summer camps going on that could be a great fit for you!

Thanks for your interest and we look forward to seeing you!

I just completed a 3 day tennis camp at the ITC facility this past weekend with their instructor Dave Nostrant. I had never heard of ITC prior to signing up for this instruction. After completing the instruction, all I can say is that ITC is a fantastic facility with great people that work there. The indoor courts were spacious, and the staff was super accommodating to me and my 3 friends that joined me for the 3 days (3 hours per day) of tennis instruction.

This facility is a gem that is under-utilized by tennis players in my opinion. I would definitely go back there again. The Dartfish video analysis technology that they use is crucial to getting the best bang for your buck. You get immediate video feedback with the instructor so that you know exactly what you are doing wrong, and how to fix it.

I'm a 4.0-4.5 NTRP player, and I've been to a couple other weekend tennis camps where they just use a regular video camera to slow-mo your swing for analysis, and they were able to maybe give me a one or two pointers on how to improve my strokes. After utilizing the Dartfish system at ITC, I came away with more than a couple dozen great pointers on how to better my game! Being able to slow down and analyze your swing at 24 frames a second really helps.

The next time you are in Vegas, I would definitely recommend trying out the ITC.

Thanks for the info. I go up to Vegas often enough - might have to stop by.

Looks like they've improved their website - a little more info on what they offer, not just 'you might get to hit next to Fernando or Andre!'.

Steve - Can you give me your email address where I can contact you for more information about your stay there?

I am looking to go to tennis camp and this is on the list of camps to look into.

Thanks!

Have you gotten a chance to hit with Rob_C from the boards yet? If not, maybe you could, he's a very good player.

Interestingly, the Darling Tennis Center was about to be shut down due to lack of funds from the city but has since been contracted out to a private company for operations - in which Querrey and his family are investors.

Good to see two such entrepreneurial efforts around the same time frame, especially in this economy.
