la terre battue.
The name "terre" is feminine in French so when the adjective agrees in gender with the name, that adjective takes an "e" at the end. "un joueur battu" (a beaten player) is masculine and "terre battue" (earth or hard-earth or mud floor in a house, bare ground on a courtyard, clay on a tennis court) is feminine. |

I wish I could go, but no holidays. |
