Default #1 in the world

Since Rafa pulled out of Wimby and he loses his Olympics points, how far into Wimby does Fed need to go to regain the #1 status? Was also wondering if Murray could get #2 if he wins Wimby.

If Murray wins he is 5 points away from being number one. So yeah he would be number 2

Federer has to win to get the number one ranking.

If Murray loses before quarters and Djoko makes the final he will get the number 3 back.

If Federer loses before the semis and Murray loses before the Final, Djoko can become number 2 by winning the tournament.

It's strange that there's been absolutely no talk about Murray's chances of becoming world no. 1. I thought that if he wins it he might be like 5 points away from Nadal. Which would be an unicum I think for smallest difference. Federer needs to win it to surpass Rafa, but if he does, he's 500 points ahead immediately with Cincy, Toronto and OG(not really) coming up it will look very good for Federer. Even if he makes the final and Murray doesn't win it, he'll most likely be no. 1 before the US Open.

To answer your question though: Federer needs to win it to be world no.1, Murray will be second if he wins it.

Murray goes to number 1 if he wins, but only when he gets his Queens points. And only temporarily.

There's been a bit of talk of Murray becoming #1. But it'll be delayed.

This is turning out to be a great year for tennis. Rafa, Fed, and Murray are going to be fighting it out for the rest of the year for #1 spot. I hope Djokovic fades away and DP and Tsonga start pushing the top 3 too.

I think Rafa is burned out and beat up after his run before the French but you never know if he is going to make a run at the US Open. I never thought he would win Wimby and Australian against Fed but he did. Oh no, I'm nervous all the sudden.
