Nadal is neither done, he'll still win a few more French Opens as well as the other odd Grandslam as well.

People are too rash to jump to conclusions by judging from the present, don't look too much in to here and now.

Rightfully? It's not as though he took it back. He knows this even if you don't. Listen to his post-match comments.

He did win the French Open, but didn't have the satisfaction of actually beating Rafa to do it. And he did regain the #1 ranking, but did so through injury. That's a hollow victory and one not worth celebrating. Until he mans up and takes down Rafa himself, the questions still remain. Fed knows this.

I see that you are working under the assumption that Nadal would have automatically been in the final had he played. Well, I guess people see where that thinking got them in the FO.

Thats completely irrelvant as he comprehensively defeated the game that beat Nadal in the French, therefore his victory was more than deserved.

And he beat the man that beat Murray, the second seed at Wimbledon.

Haha it took Nadal to be injured and lose thousands of points by default to get Federer back on top. Not to mention Federer had the easiest Wimbledon draw in his career.

What about his win @ the Madrid Masters? 6-4, 6-4? Straight sets as well, played on Nadal's most favoured surface!

No, hes just closing in on Rafa, although i'd put some serious money on him being there by the end of the US Open.

Oh you're talking about an ATP clay tournement that played like a hard court? Also, grand slams and 1000 point tournements are very different. Just like when Nadal won Queens and then Wimbledon back to back last year even though it's Federer's surface. Only difference though; Nadal actually played Federer in the final rather than some shmuck named Soderling that wasn't even top 20.

but that is the point here. Nadal's playing style is more prone to injuries and wear, and only gets worse as he gets older. That is what people have been saying for years.

1 Nadal, Rafael (ESP) 12,735 0 18
2 Federer, Roger (SUI) 10,620 0 17
3 Murray, Andy (GBR) 9,230 0 21

Monday

1 Nadal Rafael (ESP 12,735
2 Federer, Roger (SUI) 12,620
3 Murray, Andy (GBR) 10,230

Federer Grandslam winner - 2000 points
Murray Grandslam semi finalist - 800 points

Slightly mis-estimated

That Nadal is unfit is nobody's fault but his.

He has a playing style that's hard on knees. To add to it, he plays 4 clay court tournaments before French.

BTW what does this do to Roddick's rank?

He goes from the 2nd round to the Finals....

Del Po goes from the 2nd round last year to the 2nd round again....

How much ground does Roddick close there?

He gets within about 300-400 points to Del Potro, but will remain at #6. He will get to #5 during the US open series when Del Potro is guaranteed to lose at least 700 points from all the tournaments he won last year.

I'm predicting both Roddick and Del Potro to overtake Djokovic.

It'll be the top 3 and then the rest of the gang.
