I'd imagine hard hitters like them would use poly, but why don't they?

They both use Wilson Natural Gut, Venus @68 and Serena @66 <even if she tried out 3 frames at RG at a strangely low 57/55>

I have to agree. With their games you'd think at least a hybrid poly would be ideal. It's possible that they tried poly at one time and developed arm problems. Some people's arms just can't tolerate poly. A couple years ago Serena had the wrist problem at Wimbledon. Maybe she just doesn't want to risk it.

Explosive serving power is such a big part of their games. They don't seem to mind having stats sheets with 40winner/40UEs, so longs as they scare the turd out of their opponents with pace. Don't always like it much myself, but it works for them, especially at Wimbly.

I have a feeling they have found what works for them and I doubt anyone on here will be hired as a consultant.

Well pro dont really use strings for durability, they change strings per session of hitting. unlike us club players we change strings till it breaks.
But pros change whenever they want. Well you can too! if you have the Money and Manpower/equipment.

Because they don't visit the string section on here and conform to the belief that they need to use poly strings strung at 70 pounds to contain their immense power.

According to many on this board it;s not the strings and Sampras should have "checked his technique".

You'll see and read it all here. Strings could NEVER cause tennis elbow it's all your technique.

I would not say never, but what caused tennis elbow in the days when all that was available was natural gut and maybe nylon? Technique must have played a significant role. I think the causes of tennis elbow are more complicated than saying it is due to the strings and not technique. Also, Sampras is getting older. His body will break down just like the rest of us.

I ain't a pro so my technique ain't perfect but it didn't cause my arm pain. Those strings did and the smartest thing I did was never play another minute with them.
