i'm talking about putting the NRG's or the Biphase in the mains. i currently use a full bed NRG-2's (17g, 58 lbs) in my rackets and i like them a lot, but i'd like to experiment with some hybrids and see what the fuss is about.
what's a good string to hybrid these with? |

I always (well, almost always... ) NRG2 17 in hybrids, but not on mains...the only one i've strung w/NRG as mains is one of my old faithful Prestige Classic 600s, w/ red ProSupex Big Ace 18 @ 52/48, that i use from time to time in vet's tourneys, especially when playing stronger opponents. The feel is what i call "controlled power"...good blocks of opponent's hard strokes and sudden changes of pace...doesn't last as long as reverse stringing, tho....

I'm a big NRG2 user. I've used it as cross string with the following polys:
- Pro Line II - WeisCANNON silverstring - Signum Poly Plasma Pure - Topspin Cyber Flash - Topspin Cyber Power All worked fine. But stood out: Topspin Cyber Power. Lately I've stringing full polys. I've played with Signum Tornado (4/5 stars). Technifibre Black Code (4,5/5 stars). My latest test string is WeisCANNON Turbotwist. All 18g. Mostly @ 55 or a little lower. I currently use the HEAD Youtek Speed Pro. |

i hybrid x-1 with kirsch pro line 2 and SPPP, and nrg2 with PHT or alu rough. i find nrg2 more durable, but x-1 more playable. overall x-1 is my favorite hybrid string, with nrg2 a close third or fourth.

I use X-One 18 in the mains and NRG2 17 in the crosses.

I string my racquets (MG Prestige Mid Plus) with NRG2 17s on the main and Luxillon Big Banger Ace on the crosses(string tension - 58/53). Eiffel59's description of "controlled power" is spot on. The Big Banger Ace slightly firms up, and adds a little crispness, to the string bed. For me its a fantastic string combination.

X-1 on the mains and MSV Hex on the crosses = success!

I use Signum Poly Plasma on the mains and X1 Bi-phase on the crosses. I myself couldn't see putting X1 on the mains since they would break frequently. X1 Biphase not the most durable string.
If you are looking for more spin I heard good things about the Signum HEXtreme. I have not tried them yet but have some on order. |

I've played with hybrids using NRG and it wasn't bad. I still prefer Multifeel over both strings though.

I'm considering 17g X1 Mains and 16g X1 Cross.... 17g for the extra feel and 16g for extra control. Anyone else tried it??

I've tried both in hybrids as cross strings. However I find them both to be too soft and too powerful with way too much string movement. I all cases where I tried these I ended up cutting them out after only about a hour of hitting and going back to either Addiction or Spiral Flex. These two are both less soft and don't move. If a string moves in it's setup for me it's a failure no matter how it plays. I simply won't tolerate string movement.

My 17g X1(main) is shredding the outer coating of 16g Multifeel (cross) and the X1 still hasn't started fraying. Probably about 15-20 hrs of play time so far.
My 16g X1 (main) is being notched a little by Yonex 850 Pro (cross) after about 5-10 hrs.

Black Code in the mains with NRG2 in the crosses (both 17g). One of my all-time favorite setups.

I've been stringing my racquets like this for about a year now without any structural effects, so I'm guessing its fine. Don't really know if racquet manufacturers approve the 10% difference in tension between the mains and crosses though.
