In his autobiography, Agassi talks about how much he hated the original Donnay. He says that the switch from Prince was pretty much done for and by Nick Bollettieri. If I remember correctly, Donnay offered to sponsor Nick's Academy in some major way.

Agassi also talks about how Nick after hearing Agassi's complaints, took the Prince Graphite, spray painted them to look like Donnay (clumsily), and how the execs from Donnay came immediately to put a stop to that and find an alternative for him.

I somehow lucked out and got one of his racquets as well. I've been buying Radical Tour OSes (Bumblebees) and got one off e-bay. When I got it, I saw a signature on it and noticed the string pattern looking strange. I immediately counted the strings and it turned out to be 20x21, which I knew he used for a period of time in his career. It also has a different feeling grip shape as well as aged Tournagrip. My guess is the one I got must've been some sort of charity donation because of the hand signed autograph on it. I've been debating on whether I want to keep it or sell it. I'll post pics when I have time. I am still stoked about my find and ultimately as as Agassi fan, I'll probably just hang on to it.

Oddly enough, it feels more like a blocky or square Wilson grip shape more than say the round feel of a Prince grip.

Have you noticed he has his own "TK58A" grommets for the 20x21 string pattern!

And I wonder what the "93 103-15" stands for scratched into side of racquet?

It feels fairly hefty. I put it on my shipping scale and it shows up as 365 grams. From what I can tell, it has a head light balance, but not sure exactly how much since I don't have a balance board to measure. It is strung with Prince Synthetic Gut 16. I always thought Andre used some sort of Kevlar hybrid on these 20x21 frames...so maybe since this one has his signature from it, maybe it was from some sort of charity or exhibition event where it was either thrown into the crowd or auctioned off. Either way, I am glad I luckly got my hands on it. Not sure if I'm ever going to take it out for a hit. I've even contemplated selling it, but since I've always been an Agassi fan, seems like it might be worth keeping instead.

Just realised 93 may be the year.

15 probably the number of the racquet in Agassi's batch.

Don't know what the 103 is?

wow Jeff, congratulations. Sure it is a treasure! Damn when can I be so lucky. I bought many Pc600s off bay how come none has Safin's signature on it lol. Keep that racket man. It is almost certain there is no way you can get another 20x21 Bumblebee, ever.

Hehe, yeah buddy I know...I totally lucked out on this one. Though if I were ever able to trade it for one of his 18x19 paintjobbed newer frames, I might consider it. I saw pictures of forum member ANDRE AGASAKI's iRadical Paintjob, which I like. I have decided to keep it, but hey you never know...sometimes an "offer you can't refuse" comes by and well, I guess that's when it has a good chance of leaving my posession. For now, I am simply enjoying it as a collector.

That might actually be correct

It is quite possible that these batch of 20x21 racquets were made for Agassi on 3rd Oct 1993. With my racquet number 40, and ace001a racquet number 15.

As Agassi started using the 20x21 string pattern around this time on his Radical Tour O/S. In the Summer of 1993 Agassi was using a Head Radical Tour with 18x19 string pattern, and moved to the 20x21 later that year!

Interesting that is how they marked them back then. I think Roddick's racquets just have a number on the buttcap of each of his racquets (as shown here on this forum).

Oh and trust me that I feel lucky for getting this one, but I think it was more likely that the seller didn't know what he/she was selling rather than sending me this by accident. From what I recall, the auction had one not very clear small picture of the racquet standing up next to the cover and was simply described as a Head Radical Tour tennis racquet. I bought it thinking I was getting just another Bumblebee OS as that was what I was hunting for at the time. When I got it, I noticed the signature on it and that the strings looked a bit odd...which I then counted them and realized what I just stumbled upon.

From your posts in this thread, you seem to be the biggest Agassi fan here, so you getting this actual personnally used Agassi racquet, really is karma at it's best

Sorry Jimbo, totally glazed over your last response...and yeah I do feel lucky to have it. But now I've been offered a trade for a newer 18x19 MG paintjobbed "A.A." racquet. I still can't make up my mind yet.

Don't you think 103 could be the headsize? A special one for Andre as he was a tinkerer? At first sight, it is not that easy to make the difference between a 107 and a 103...

Good thinking!

But I've checked the headsize, and it really does look identical to the retail which is 107sqin. Maybe strung area is 103sqin though? I still think the date suggestion is most likely though, as it does seem right.

Well, obviously up to you, but I would keep the 20x21 version as they are quite rare!

And Agassi never used the 18x19 MG paintjob competitively as he had retired by then. But I wouldn't do that trade mainly because the original Radical with 20x21 is just so much cooler
