Oh no. Can't win around here. Now you're going to tell us Sherlock Holmes is dead, too. Yeahuhhhm, thanks for the newsflash, Mr. Cronkite. Next you're going to tell us Walter Cronkite is dead now, too. Kids, read The Game, by Jack Kramer. And check out his tennis moves in the 'Kings of the Court' video. EDIT: Jus' saw Kings of the Court excerpts on YouTube. Dat Ni99a Kramer had some mad skillzz, yo! Last edited by slice bh compliment : 09-15-2009 at 06:12 PM. |

I learned to play with a Jack Kramer autograph, and it was an awesome racquet to learn and play with. Back then, when I played for a few years with it, before switching to graphite frames, it was common to go to junior tennis tournaments and see perhaps 75% of the players playing with that very frame. The classic Jack Kramer Autograph (along with Dunlops) were considered THE RACQUETS to play with.

I'm working on four YT-clips at the moment -- H. L. Doherty-GOAT-footage with stills and film, the last two last segments of Borg at Wimby 1976 and Laver's astonishing calender Grand Slam triumph-match at USO 1969.
The last three clips include some great, no-one-could-say-it-better, diamond-cutter sharp comments from the late, great Jack Kramer. He truly was one of the greatest TV-commentators brimming with illumating observations that you could take to the bank. These clips will partly be my tribute to the immortal tennis-players seen in the matches -- but also it is my major tribute to Jack Kramer and his incomparable tennis wisdom prowess that's clearly on display when he's a commentator here. I never, ever disagreed with his analysis or points he made when he was commenting a match. I wish he could've continued as a commentator right up until he left us... Those clips you are working on Borgforever sound great. I'm looking forward to them. Thanks.

Me too
Now, Laver's Calendar Grand Slam-triumph is one of my all time fave matches with one heck of great commentary with Kramer and Bud Collins so I want to do it right. Not sloppy. I want to be able to live with it and not cringe so much. Same goes for the H. L. and Borg clips. The Borg ones I am manually inserting Kramer's comments over the wonderful Japanese-source footage. It takes time. I am about half-way through all these clips. And if I am lucky they will be ready in a couple or three weeks time, depending how much free time I have. People are telling me -- "Are you crazy? Sitting at home editing this crap for nothing?!" I go: "I think it's fun, challenging and important work. Stuff I would like to see myself. IMO it's the exact opposite of crap. And the satisfaction I get from doing this is not nothing." I do however admit I am a bit eccentric as compared to some people... Great work Borgforever, thanks very much for that time you are putting in to those videos. I have never seen such Laver footage really. I just remember seeing lots of glossy pictures in books growing up and always reading about Laver's records. He was quite amazing. That certainly is important and challenging work. If it brings you joy, you should do it! Think about it, the players of old deserve such recognition in my opinion, as they laid the path for all of us and go forgotten. Our game has such a rich history and if folks like us don't pay attention to it, who will?
