The Babolat and Wilson devotees have their forum; and I thought I'd do a search to find if Yonex players have one too. After looking through 20 pages of products of the TW search engine for items with "Yonex"in the title of the thread, I discovered that no, we have no such home.
So I'm making one.
Not as many pros use our choice of racquet; but we can take some solace in the fact that perhaps the greatest player of all time, Martina Navratilova, made her mark with a Yonex stick.
So let's celebrate the history, the great players, our enthusiasm for and dedication to the Yonex tradition.
To get the ball in play, what led you to your current Yonex racquet?

It was Monica Seles that inspired my switch to Yonex. Saw her hitting with them and then she gave me a few, after I tried them I fell in love. I love everything yonex, rackets, clothes, bags, etc.

My own story: I grew up with a Jack KraMer Pro Staff and switched to a Donnay Borg Pro (should have stayed with the Kramer, or tried the Dunlop Maxply Fort). Stayed away from tennis for 26 years and then got an inexpensive Prince Triple Threat and the Wilson [K] Blade Team. This racquet was not as manueverable as I wanted, and then I fell in love...
I saw Jie Zheng* playing on TV. With a Yonex RDiS 300. I HAD to demo this racquet; I was so impressed bythe power this tiny 5'4"dynamo could get out of this racquet.
At first, i couldn't notice much difference with the Wilson KB Team. But then I started hitting at balls that were in awkward places -- and the difference became manifest immediately.
After flirting with the RDS 003 (which I bought, undemoed, because they were similar in specs and...ON SALE !!

), and briefly considering a Babolat, I have settled on the RDiS 300. It is heavy enough, yet much easier to swing than the RDS003. To alleviate arm symptoms, following the advice of the stringer at my local shop, I put NXT on it and felt the difference immediately.
I love Yonex, its quality and have the ultra-cool Yonex Beijing 2008 red and yellow bag. The only problem is, now I have too many Yonex racquets to fit in it!!!
But that's a nice problem to have...

*This is the westernized version of her name; the Chinese way is Zheng (last name) Jie. It actually sounds better that way.

I've wanted to use a Yonex frame because I like the brand in general. But they've never really produced a racquet that I really like. The RQiS Tour 1 was the closest but it was too flexible. I love the brand though

Well I was at the place i buy most of my stuff aka the pga store. I was just there with a friend hitting and he was looking to switch rackets and i had no intention to, i thought my wilson k6.1 95 was the greatest thing to happen to the tennis game. I thought i would help him out by demoing and telling him which ones i thought he might like. I was going through the rackets not liking any as much as mine not even thinking try the yonexes, after hitting every other frame i picked one up and first shot hit the corner with loads of spin than hit a perfect flat winner. I imeditly went and bought them

Ok here is the story in a nut shell. I am a student at the Nick Bollettieri tennis academy, in Bradenton FL. One day I was practicing and then on the court next to me I noticed Monica seles walked up. At that time I had a full sponsership with wilson. I was using the K 6.1 Anyway she started hitting and I fell there was something about the way the ball just went off her racket. Kinda like a rocket launcher. ( Yes I know this was because it was Monica Seles) Also, on a side note. I also watched Nicole Vaidisova hit with the RDS 003 and I was in love with the racket after i saw her hit. I still love seeing a pro use it even though I never did. There was something about that racket that just was amazing. Anyway I then went to an exabition and Monica noticed me and said "Hay I see you at the academy all the time" So when we were back at the academy she came and gave me some of her old rackets. (She new i was starting to like yonex) I just loved the way they hit I loved everything about it. So I decided once my wilson contract ended I would sign with yonex. And today I proudly use the RQIS 1 tour xl and use the clothes, bags, and shoes. I will admit I almost switched back to wilson a year ago but I just love yonex to much.

I have always liked Yonex because the racquet QC is second to none, and their customer service is GREAT.

My favorite is still the RD Ti-70 long, then the Ti-80 (gold and black). oh, and of course the RD-7.

Although my everyday racquet is not Yonex anymore, i still keep one in my bag and use it as my backup.

I used to use RD Ti-70 long when i played in the 5.0 league here in LA.

i cracked 2x ti-70 longs within 4 weeks. (let's just say i have much better temper now that i am 35.)

so, i went to their LA warehouse/office twice in a month, the sales guy there not only replaced my broken racquet, NO QUESTIONS ASKED. each time he gave me free strings, cap, and grip. and apologized for the racquets breaking on me.

after that, i became a loyal Yonex user and bought pretty much every "flagship/player" racquet that they ever released.
RDX500, RDS001, RQis, etc.

Just tried the RDis 100 mid, didn't like it.....
WAY too under powered, or maybe i am getting old

I haven't been playing long but I chose a Yonex (RQIS 1 Tour light) because it felt like a nice racquet and I got it cheap ex-demo (I was a using a Wilson N5 before which was too light and too head heavy)

I also quite like the isometric headshape, it does seem to have quite a generous sweetspot for a smallish headsize (95sq.)

But really I haven't been playing long enough to make any well informed racquet choices but I like the Yonex so far and would buy another one most likely (would like to try a heavier frame at some point, still building up the strength required though, don't want to do my shoulder in.)

Re Yonex's popularity, or lack of it, that's a plus. You don't want the same racquet as everyone else do you?.

I just got my first Yonex racquet recently and all I have to say is, "Why the heck did it take me so long to get one?!" I had been putting off trying them out for years.
I've played with Dunlop, Head, Prince, Wilson...but I picked up an RDiS 100 and I love it. Anything wrong with those other racquets? No. But, my Yonex just fits my game so much better than anything else I've ever owned.
Everyone I know and their brothers are picking up Wilson KSix's (and I've demoed them too) but, after playing with my RDiS 100 I'm glad I stuck with it. I went a little overboard this weekend , maybe because I was thrilled with how I was doing with it and went for too much, and overworked my shoulder but...love it.

Didn't feel underpowered to me. I use an Eastern Forehand grip and sometimes lean more Semi-Western. Short balls were easily slapped cross court with enough pace. I'm coming off a KPro-Staff 88 so, supplying my own power isn't new. I may try out the RDS 001 Mid too....

I have also noticed that with my 95sqin head i feel like I am using a bigger head then i really do. I guess it is the shape, it seems that you can use a samller head without loosing the sweatspot

I did a sweet spot comparison between my RDiS 300 and the Head racquet that Agassi uses -- which has a head size 6"larger. You'd think his racquet, which has a nice flex rating (58 or lower, if I recall) would have a larger sweet spot. Not so!
The shape, it seems, of a Yonex really does make a huge difference!

I started using a Yonex R-7 in HS. Great volley racquet. I've tried other racquet brnads but always seem to migrate back to Yonex. They make quality racquets.

Not much of a story. I just love my RDS 001 MP! I've been through several other frames--KSix One, Babolat PD, Dunlop AG 300. The Yonex gives me all of the right specs (16x19, 98 sqin, perfect weight), has taken my game to the next level, and I haven't even considered putting it down since the moment I bought it.

Yonex rackets,they're far the best rackets,in quality and by that i mean,same weight and balance,unlike many others.Plus the stability,sweet spot,....
no comparison,of course there are some other rackets good as well,but Yonex rules the World.

My first graphite racket was a handmedown from my mom, which I LOVED: R-22.

I went through a bunch of Yonex through jr high and high school...and I switched during hs to a Wilson 6.1 Classic. Good stuff... went on to college,stopped playing tennis, and then started playing tennis again after college... and switched back to Yonex and I realized how much I missed the feeling and the freaking square head!

After that.. I have played with:

RQ Ti-1500
MP2i
RDS 300
RQS11

and now I am waiting to demo the SFIT rackets coming out next month! I have only one RQS11 left (I have had 7-8 break on me... not because of abuse, just hitting anything from a forehand to an overhead).

I tried playing with the RQiS 1 XL Lite, and it just doesnt work with me at all...

Can't wait for next month...

No, their QC isn't that impressive - try buying an 001 now. It will be 12 pts. higher in sw than it should be. They should have repainted it and used a different name. Lousy QC.
