I plan to play some upcoming Mixed Double Leagues and some USTA sanctioned double tourament.
I am just curious whether my NTRP rating will be affected by these doubles games. |

If you're talking about getting bumped up, then probably not, unless you win handily, and your opponents have strong ratings. It seems to me that in general, singles wins will get you bumped up a lot faster than doubles.

It means that we may face most of 3.5+3.5 players. If we got many wins in Doubles touraments, would I get bumped to 3.5? |

Please take note, rankings and ratings are two different things.
Any NTRP tournaments you play can affect your rating, but that doesn't mean (especially in mixed) that you have to worry about getting bumped. If you play regular adult league and also mixed, then your rating will only be determined by your adult league results, and not by your mixed. If you *only* play mixed tournaments, then your rating will be an NTRP with a "M" designation (meaning it is based on mixed results alone). Those tend to be less accurate then those generated through adult league play IMO. As far as tournaments, an NTRP tournament will affect rating and could actually generate a ranking for you if you play enough of them. For instance, I played some NTRP tournaments last summer, and ended up with a doubles and a singles ranking in 3.5. My rating (of 3.5) stayed the same though, because I didn't blow anyone out (which would get me moved up) or get creamed badly enough (which could get me dropped)...but generally speaking, since I play so much adult league, whatever happens in the few tournaments I play isn't enough to dramatically move my rating. And yes, it is easier to move up and down if you stick to singles alone...then your NTRP isn't influenced by that of your partner's. |

What is your early start rating? Those were posted in August. If your ESR is already 3.5 well you already know where you stand |

If I got bumped to 3.5 by my Doubles Tournament results, my coach will shout at me. BTW: I plan to play Mixed Double league and Men's Double Touranment. Both will be 7.0 levels. |

Anyhoo- I guess you have to figure out what your priorities are in tennis. Is it to get better at tennis, play on a team going to nationals or what? Since you are an adult I am not sure why you be worried about a 3.0 captain shouting at you? What is he going to do- kick you off the team? haha If you are trying to improve playing a whole year and the remainder of this year at 3.0 is not going to help you much since you already said you can beat all the players on your team. If being on this team is a big deal to you for social reasons or other reasons I guess you probably should avoid USTA tournaments. Play club league, ATA or peach league matches. |

But Goober, since he played adult league, won't his mixed results not affect his rating?

According to his original post he said he was playing mixed dubs league and a regular doubles tournament. I was addressing the dubs tournament not his mixed league. His dubs tournament will count into his final year end ranking but will not generate strikes from what I remember reading.

Sounds like the Mixed Double league isn't an issue. How big is the impact of my 7.0 Mens' Double Touranment results to my the end of year rating? |

So if we control the score like 6:4;7:6. Then am I OK? Also my partner is 4.0, how will this affect my rating? Suppose we win two strong 3.5 players (80% wins records) with 64 and 64. Does my rating pumped a lot? E.g. from 3.1->3.4? I guess my question is if we win the 7.0 Doubles Title, can I avoid to be bumped to 3.5?

*rolling eyes*
Listen, you either play your game and take what happens, win or lose, you become one of those people who sandbag, are dishonest, and make USTA leagues and tournaments unenjoyable for the honest folks. |

I want to play as high as possible. But reality is different from what I thought. My friend, who won 4.0 local tourament champ, only got played 1 match in 4.0 league because team needs more wins. |

Here in NY (southern), XD leagues do NOT affect rating.
It makes sense too...a 3.5 woman playing with a 4.5 man will win a lot of matches, but it will most likely not be because she played so well. If a 3.5 woman got bumped up to 4.0 after playing her season with 4.5 man, she'll likely get her butt handed to her when she goes back to play 4.0 womens. |

This is your first year in USTA? This is NOT how you play the game. You play to win EVERY match FAIRLY. You don't try to "manage" the score. You don't intentionally try to injur your opponent. You do your best in a match, you shake your opponents hand at the end, and you sit down for a beer with them. |

What do you get out of this? You said you only played three times in match play - does your team practice enough otherwise for you to get enough tennis? |
