Watching it now - and a couple of things you can really see in this nice HD transfer...First - what a really nice clay court that is. Pristine condition. And really great TV coverage angle wise. Much more interesting than most of today's TV angles - much closer and lower to the court - really get a better feel for the game, speed and spins - and some nice off angle shots as well.
Of yeah..and with wood sticks - they both hit some really nice heavy shots - even by todays standards. Oh yeah..and it feels like SPEED TENNIS - where's all the down time and toweling off? Just end of point - and serve.

I just finished watching this! Yeah, the pace between points was much quicker than it is today. I'd like to see Borg v. Nadal!
Laver was playing fine for his age, but Borg was in complete control of that match, and to me, it was more like watching Federer or Sampras win routintely in straights against someone they know they're going to beat than watching an epic battle. People read way too much into the scoreline of this match ("look at how close it was considering Laver's age!"). Don't fool yourself people--Borg was in cruise control.

Back then the players didn't go to the towel after every point--in fact they didn't even take their towels on the court. Points often got underway in less than 5 seconds. I don't know why they let it get to where is now where so long is taken between points.

^^I agree. They should start enforcing the time rule.
