I've actually wondered many times over the past 10 years if Mac and Martina don't really love each other too much. Otherwise, I dont' see why the 2 lefties wouldn't have given it a shot together. Might be fun, it would surely be a legendary moment. EVEN TODAY, with the shape they've kept themselves in, they'd have a shot at a mixed slam, (though, now it would only be a wild outside shot...maybe not enough to tempt them). I guarantee, no tournament director/commitee in the world wouldn't give them a wildcard!

Yeah, Graf and McEnroe were destroying the mixed field at Wimbledon that year. It was exciting to watch, and mixed doubles was actually getting real coverage. It was really a shame when Graf abruptly pulled out.

is there any more recent partnership that played together for a number of years?
i´m too lazy to look it up myselfbut nobody really comes to mind.
with mens or womens doubles it´s clear that partnerships stay together longer because they can play tournaments all year round and really get used to how their partner plays.
