I've actually wondered many times over the past 10 years if Mac and Martina don't really love each other too much. Otherwise, I dont' see why the 2 lefties wouldn't have given it a shot together. Might be fun, it would surely be a legendary moment. EVEN TODAY, with the shape they've kept themselves in, they'd have a shot at a mixed slam, (though, now it would only be a wild outside shot...maybe not enough to tempt them). I guarantee, no tournament director/commitee in the world wouldn't give them a wildcard!

Yeah, Graf and McEnroe were destroying the mixed field at Wimbledon that year. It was exciting to watch, and mixed doubles was actually getting real coverage. It was really a shame when Graf abruptly pulled out.

Mc Millan/Stove and Hewitt/Turnbull were pretty good, too

is there any more recent partnership that played together for a number of years?
iīm too lazy to look it up myselfbut nobody really comes to mind.
with mens or womens doubles itīs clear that partnerships stay together longer because they can play tournaments all year round and really get used to how their partner plays.
