I am shocked in the last few days. Hopefully Nadal and Federer are and have been clean.

Default Sampras wrote a book??

How can sampras the most boring guy to walk the earth write a book that anyone would want to read?? Chapter one "how to turn an entire generation off of tennis" step one : play with no emotion, personality, style or feeling. If Michael Jackson had a copy of sampras' book he would still be with us today.

So unless you look like a gay pirate (on meth) you are boring and robotic?

How old are you? I'm guessing about ten.

There is an interesting thread from back in 2004 about Agassi's feelings on the game and his relationship with his father:

This thread is ridiculous. AA came to "love" tennis--his own words in some of the new excerpts out.

Why don't you guys wait until reading the whole book or at least until someone can read it for you before making up your minds.

In the "60 Minutes" interview tonight, Agassi told Katie Couric that he "hated tennis for most of his life", and that it wasn't until he met and married Steffi Graf that he decided tennis wasn't so bad as he realized that if it wasn't for tennis, he never would have met Steffi, so he says that made his opinion of tennis "even out a little bit in his mind".

If he hated tennis that much then he would have quit . . . simple as that. He was probably pushed so hard so young that he burned out. Obviosly his sacrifice and the money he was making were important enough.

From a pure tennis playing point of view I hope he is just as honest in his revelations about his opponents and what he thought of their play and their weaknesses.

I loved to watch Agassi play. If he just had the mobility of an Edberg, Sampras or a Lendl no telling how great his record could have been.
how about if he had Sampras's serve, Mac's vollley, Chang's quickness....the point is he is who he is. He was an all-time great player. EVERY player has a weakness.

Pete was boring simply because he was not "confrontational/sensational". Pete just wanted to play. He did not get involved with all the ype and circus called pro sports. But he did play with emotion, but he just did not show it on every point ala Monfils. No style?? you mean the way he dressed.. because his game had style. Feeling???? Now you have proven you are completely full of crap. You never read Pete's book, so who are you to judge? Its obvious you are an immature kid and a clueless one at that.

no emotion or feeling??? This is just short clips, Pete showed emotion plenty of times especially in the big matches.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6E7048vLTZM

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3v699NSroU
(guess you missed where he was in tears because his beloved coach was DYING. Guess he has no feeling..you are a flake)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tt-vdBYeU3A
(again, he showed emotion. he was just not a jerk about it and did not celebrate EVERY point like many of today's players do..its obviosu you never watched Pete play).

hard to give up millions. even if he hated tennis for most of his life, its not easy to give up with all that tennis brought him. maybe he hated "tennis", but loved the limelight, money, fame, etc. how many people hate their jobs, but don't quit because they make too much? pretty simple logic why Agassi never quit tennis (he just took his "breaks" once in a while.).

He hated tennis for most of his career, did you watch the 60 minutes thing last night? He learned to love the game AFTER he quit meth and made his comeback. His coach said he had to start over, or quit the game. He decided to start over and learned to like the game. But up until after '97, yes he hated tennis. I don't blame him, I was forced into sports, I was forced to play football for 8 years and I hated it, but I was good at it so my parents kept making me play. I totally understand Andre, even though my experience wasn't nearly as bad as his
