Andy broke his previous record of 150 mph, which was set in the 1st round of Davis Cup this year.
He served a 152 mph on the last point of the match versus Jonas. Congrats |

Too bad Bjorkman just stuck his racquet out and put it right back up the middle. Roddick thought it was over, and had to like fall back hitting a forehand, barely ended up winning the point

Yes, but this thread is congratulating him setting a new record, not about the 'effectiveness' of that particular serve.

Davis Cup raders are so juiced up. Bjorkman hits 132-135 on friday.
there is no way this could ever happen. I think they do it on purpose, so that Roddick can keep breaking records.... SO FAKE!! |

IT does always seem that in the last games of his davis cup matches that he hits like 150 everytime.

Only the Porsche radar gun, used at Wimbledon and Australia, should be used for record purposes. I believe Roddick would have the record of 141 then. The radar at Queens' Club is also juiced.

I agree with JackCrawford, the previous record-breaking serve by Roddick was at Davis Cup. He doesn't get THAT excited about Davis Cup that he starts whipping out 150+. The entire fastest serve thing is starting to get on my nerves, anyway. With how much accuracy can you truly measure the serve after it hits 100mph? Probably not enough that you can claim one person is 1mph or even 3 mph faster than someone else

Hey, some people are just gifted. Just he might not have hit 152 but either way, he is gifted and able to hit well over a 100 mph accurately. Most people can't hit 100 mph without it either going long or into the net.

Yeah, Andy "barely" scratched out a win over Bjorkman in that last set, 6-0. Bjorkman had Roddick right on the ropes, right, PCMD? LOL.
152mph .... that's just .... insane. |

And to think.....Venus hit at 135 mph serve just long, that was almost mistaken as in down in Australia in 03', now that's in Australia if she hit it what if she did it on one of of the Davis cup radars, she could've broken 140!!

WATER! A 152 mph serve can't erase all the tantrums.

Yeah, I would definitely have to say that Andy was very lucky to pull out that last set. Maybe the tennis gods were smiling upon him today, but he came very close to handing that one to Bjorkman. I would think that if it wasn't for maybe one or two errors on Bjorkman's side (the more talented player obviously with much better court sense and prettier strokes), the set could have gone in a totally different direction...you know, like 6-1 instead of 6-0...bwahahahahahaha!

Franchise, I'd have to say that out of Bjorkman and Roddick, neither one really has prettier groundies, Jonas' look ackward and weak. Chad, I still think that incident was funny, get your own new material!

this right here sums it all up with what annoys me with this message board. It's like people grasp for any straw possible to bring Roddick down. It's not even funny anymore. I mean come on, he won the set 6-0. Bjorkman was bageled. |

Ok, wow, people all over the place after me, because of the way I said a simple thing. I wasn't even trying to be hostile towards Roddick (as I have said that I will try not to be vocal about it anymore), so I'm sorry if it seemed that way. I should have said:
"It was amazing that Bjorkman was able to get the serve back so easily, and it must have really surprised Roddick to see it coming back so quickly. It would have been comical if he had once again lost the point in which he hit the fastest serve ever (remember Agassi at Queens)" Next time I'll say it like that. Or is that still hostile? |

PCMD, don't even bother. The Roddick fan club members here can be very touchy that things like you said will be twisted in a way it will come out offensive just to get back on you for it. Okay, Roddick hit the hardest recorded serve. Good for him.
