Default RD7 long

Just wondering, as the standard size is meant to be plenty hefty enough as it is, whether the long would just be too much altogether - or whether it's actually a pretty special frame that deserves to be checked out?

Anyone have any experience of/views on the RD7 lonbody?

Thanks,

R.

BTW, If anyone could possibly post up the specs that might also really help me. Cheers!...

If it's anything like the RD70 Ross, it's not the weight I had issue with it was just the fact that 28 inches was far too long. Truly amazing spin, bombing serves, extra reach - and beautiful feel in the RD70's case - but on topspin backhands it was so often late I gave up on it.

I have hit with the RD7 also but I never knew there was an extended version. The RD7 by itself is a beauty. It swings heavier than your PT630's though - you'll need to consider that. Any long version may also be a little lighter to compensate - but as I said, I've never heard of such a beast.

Was reading your other post - have you thought of the Donnay Pro 1? On paper it seems to fit what you're looking for.

There was never an RD7 Long, but there was a POWER RD7 95x27, and a POWER RD7 long 95 x 28. Both of these also came in 105 sq.inches and in both 27 and 28 long. The 95's were a deep blue colour, while the 28's were grey with pale red and black. I owned a POWER RD7 95x27 and it was a beast to swing but had awesome stability, feel and spin. But it was about as maneuverable as a snow shovel. Like the SRD Tours the frames were vaccum pressure molded and felt incredibly solid.

And yes, the Pro RD70 Long (98 or 105 x 2 was a different frame altogether with it's ultra-thin beam (16mm)
