What,is he trying to extend the tradition of the runnerup crying during the ceremony?

I like him a lot more for this. He and Djokovic are now tied for fave top 5 player though he'll probably annoy me and Nole pass him soon.

Murray shouldn't be crying, he lost in straight sets.

LOL at his comment: "I can cry like Roger, I just can't play like him." Good stuff. Nice of Roger to acknowledge Murray's GS talent, which he certainly has. I hope Murray gets one this year.

What's up with this macho bullsh!t all the time on this forum? The guy worked hard and gave it his all but came up short in the final,it isn't the end of the world if he shows up some emotion in the trophy ceremony,I actually like him more after this speech.

That single moment of emotion of Andy has completely changed my opinion of him now, I have a lot of respect for him now, I was just waiting to see something like that.

He's crying bc he thought (and pretty much everyone else did too) that he had come so close and yet Roger showed him that he is still so far from a GS title (when playing Roger). Plus I think it became apparent how much pressure Andy was facing, from the UK from himself and he couldn't do it. I think I like him a bit more after this speech, although after his humble speech at the USO '08 final I also thought I liked him. Then he started going off again about Roger not respecting him etc. He needs to just change how he plays. Roger has shown him time and again now that his style of play won't cut it against Roger at a Slam. So for his sake, he needs to change.
Here's to Roger winning the calendar slam in '10! |

I agree completely with this. Murray made a tactical error -- unfortunately the same one he regularly makes in slams -- in not playing aggressively, but he corrected that in the 3rd set; and he played his heart out. He was unlucky to lose in straights.

I believe the reason why he acted so disprespectful and "Macho" lately is because he wanted to give the British media a character, someone to believe in. Akin to Muhammad Ali, by hyping up himself and acting like a total bad-ass, he portrays an image of confidence (or arrogance to some) and strength. I think Andy intentionally does these things, in thinking of his fans and perhaps even himself. The old "Fake it 'till you make it" routine. My 2 cents.

My sentiments exactly! He's always annoyed me, but his speech was more than admirable, it was mature yet he still showed his emotions. I've much more respect for him now, and wish him luck in the future. As RF said, he's too good not to win A GS.
